I've got a Vantage V8, lovely car, love it to bits. But I want something a bit more raw.

I've had a 911 C2S and have thought about a GT3 or a turbo. But what have other folks moved onto (or added to their fleet) after a V8V???

Budget is less than £100k and I never buy new cars.

Ah, one other thing - I've only got room for one car.

Hiya, I went from AMV8 to 997 GT3, chose comfort spec & use it pretty much daily, awesome car!
Loved the AMV8, love the GT3 but they are different cars!
If you fancy a change the 997GT3 is ideal & in another level from a performance, handling, driver interaction point of view, but it lacks the Astons class & is less refined!

Aston Martin Vanquish for £100,000 would get you a 2005/2006 S model

A late model Ferrari 575 perhaps or maybe a Gallardo.

Like Grant I went to a 997GT3 after my V8 and would agree with all his comments. As you going to have just the one car go Comfort spec - not Clubsport - and don't worry, this just adds a bit more trim, less extreme seats and ditches the roll cage. It does NOT dilute or remove anything important from the car.

After the GT3 I went to an F430 - you can find them sub £100k now. Truly awesome car and genuinely every day useable too. Piling on the miles might cost you a tad come resale but think of the fun you'd have - and that's just opening the garage door! smile

It is an issue. I had a play in a mates 430 Scud on the weekend, and although quicker than my Vantage (by a LONG way) it was too fast for the road. We went on one of my favourite 'loops' and it was just ridiculously fast. Also I did feel a bit embarrassed in it, it is a very shouty car! (Even in dark grey with matching wheels). Would be a fantastic car at an RMA day at Spa, but in my local mid loop country pub car park it was much more embarrassing where the Aston is classy.

I have been thinking for some time and have come up with nothin that can replace the Vantage, I do fancy the V12 RS, but a bit over budget.

I know what you mean!! Dreamy car, but when I drove one I much much preferred my Vantage, same with the 9, that scuppered those two on my list.

Morgan Aero 8? Very light, chesty V8, amazing sound, roof-down fun, I love the looks and the interior plus you get the bonus of buying a proper hand-made car. Like nothing else!

Fair points mate. I was a bit worried about image when I got my 430 - Red (very) with Crema interior - but frankly once I was driving it I couldn't have cared less. And much to my suprise I got REALLY positive reactions from other road users. Lots of thumbs up and asking me to wind it up together with loads of conversations in petrol stations, people taking pics etc. Tbo more positive attention than my Aston. Very suprising and a bonus really as I was expecting the opposite. Mind you when you park opposite you fav. bar of a summers eve and everyone's outside looking at you it's REALLY difficult to stroll across the road normally. As soon as you TRY to act normally the ministry of silly walks seems to take over your body. Guess it gives you that 15 mins of fame Andy W. was chuntering on about. smile

Agreed! Personally the things I did not like about his previous 360 Stradle, were fixed in a normal 360, and I think it is the same with the Scud, a 'normal 430' is more subtle, slower (in a better way) and not as extreme. But then again a full throttle 'race mode' upshift at 9,000 rpm in 60ms is one of the most amazing vehicular experiences I have had to date! It's overtaking speed from 50 to 140 is truly mind blowing!

Pure driving thrills, a GT3 is going to be hard to beat for a car based on something "normal". Not sure a Turbo would give you something more "raw".

You can get Challenge Stradales for around the 100k mark. Would give you all the rawness of the Pork (and some) but with that added je ne sais quoi. Awesome machines by all accounts, and likely to hold their value better than most cars IMO.

The 575 is a good shout. Nice cars. Whack on a Tubi and it gets more visceral. More grown up than the V8 cars.

Not sure what I'll replace the V8V with when the time comes. May finally try a Porsche, though at the minute the only thing I might have considered would be a Stradale - I have a Caterham though, which is better at "raw" than the Ferrari.

I love the Vanquish and the S is a monster piece of kit. But as an only car...?

laugh Good one.

But he said something more raw, not something that brings on incontinence, polyester cardigans with elbow patches and SatNav with built in POIs for stockists of Sterident.

Porsches are like rats - you are never more than 100ft from one. I travelled by taxi from Knightsbridge to West Hampstead on Saturday afternoon. I counted 27 Porsches, 2 Astons (V8V and DB7 GTA)and 1 Ferrari (a 599).

Don't change it - just get the engine remapped and cats and exhausts etc. How can you possibly get rid of such a pretty car!

Nice idea, I tried that one a while ago, Mmm I thought nice sunny day I can use her car roof down, it will make a nice change. Problem is she won't let me near it, I have occasionally sneaked it out when she's not looking!
Remember it will always be "her car"... & she won't want you "thrashing it" which what women generally think blokes do to cars even when we don't wink... you have been warned!

Too true mate, but over the years I have been educating the wife that cars need a thrashing or they will break, and I think I have her sold on that! Although having thrashed an M5 and an RS4 recently, if I did that too often I would be locked up and they would throw away the key, the M5 is an absolute monster!
