er - R8 more "raw" - surely not?
Ford GT - no thanks. I heard awful things about them (didn't that block off the telly send his back as it never worked)

I'm getting a R8 R-Tronic in September as a replacement for a year before I come back to the 4.7

I had a Maserati GT for a weekend in France. Mrs Razbox and lots of women seemed to like the shape as much as the AMV8. However, I thought it was too soft - too much of a "GT" for me.

I'll chip in, nowt better than spending other peoples money for them hehe So, a little rawer than a Vantage sub £100k? Well the shortlist for me would read:

360CS - rawest of the lot; wonderful aesthetics/desirability/dynamics and probably nigh depreciation proof if the mileage is kept sensible (so <4k per annum)

430 Coupe - simply brilliant, its a shame the market so hates leggy F cars because I'd want to drive it all the time. Nice spacious cabin, good driving position & visibility (unlike a Gallardo IMHO) and really exciting to drive - quick, noisy, pointy front end, mobile rear end.... feels several generations on from the 360. But can you use it without being $$$ raped?

997 GT3 - pound for pound the best major league sportscar out there, much better drive than the turbo which is very very quick but somewhat aloof. Dynamically sublime, solid build, comfortable, properly useable. Probably a decent residual punt but obviously more mileage sensitive than a C2S

550 Maranello - quite different from everything else on the list but a proper major league supercar & EVO's car of the decade. Every test I've ever read suggests it is dynamically imperious despite its GT conotations.... I'd love to comment from experience but sadly this resides under the 'one that got away' in terms of driving experience frown Depreciation curve should be levelling out by now but again can you do the mileage? Expensive to run

R8 - as others have alluded, the car that realizes the potential of the Gallardo chassis (although its more different than most people think). Its only a little 'rawer' than a Vantage if at all but it is a major dynamic step up - and as something to use everyday yet still give you that hit of driving fun when you want it, this is probably a better bet than a GT3 due to its superior refinement, lighter controls & better ride quality. They really are as good as the press hype suggests

I've listed my suggestions (roughly) in order of decreasing mileage sensitivity, as you dont mention what kind of mileage you'd expect to do.... so that may make the decision for you: do you want an everyday supercar? (R8) or a w/e dry road fun machine (CS)....

What else?
997 Turbo too one dimensional
Gallardo too disappointing
Older Diablo, 6.0/SV? - Fabulous to drive but not something to use everyday (unless your Tony666!)
Gran Turismo - lovely car but too soft in this company
Bentley GT - too soft
Ford GT - fabulous, and the Clarkson problem car hype was bollix. There are a few PHer's who run them withough problem and love them AFAIK

Ford GT is great fun but you couldn't drive it every day - you have to have a lot of space to get in and out, it takes forever to fill up with fuel (can't get the pump at an angle it doesn't click off all the time), it's wide and LHD but good fun.
Gallardo is a disappointment, 430 is far better so is the R8. (Or at least you expect the R8 to be an Audi).

I had the same issue replacing my V8 - I went for a Range Rover, a secondhand Caterham and a membership of P1! I realised that I wanted to drive a variety of supercars, not just one.

If you want raw the turbo is NOT going to do it for you.
A list of raw combining desirable follows:

F360 challenge (but at 100K it won't be the best)stonkin and very raw.
F430 Manual(my choice)just the right amount of everything.
Porsche GT3 raw fun.
Noble M400/3R even more fun with AWESOME acceleration and handling to match! at less money.
Porsche 996 GT2 oh my god! more punch than Mike Tyson and good value.

Bit left field, but what about a Nissan GTR?

More computers than PC World, it's hardly going to give you a raw ride.
Though that car would flatter even the most ham fisted drivers out there.

Nissan GT-R - all the car mags reckon it's better than a 997 turbo...

I bet it's an awesome car.

But, fundamentally, it's a Nissan.

No sex appeal. No thanks!

Sex appeal???
Why would you get rid of the V8? it HAS to be one of the top cars out there for sex appeal.
