Why? Should they fit them for free? The breakdown is simple, AM main dealers have high hourly rates, no more than the rest of the industry though.

^ I agree. Rear pads with the correct equipment are all of 30mins a side. So unless they are charging £250 an hour with a massive markup, £500 is insane.

£510 inc VAT quote today at main dealer. Rear pads only no discs and no handbrake pads. That seems to be the going rate in South East.
Will be getting it up on my own ramp at the weekend!

Can anyone kindly recommend any sources as mine will need 4 new disks and pads soon - nice Xmas hols job. Not averse to upgraded pads without wires as me and service garage always keep a close eye anyway. Is there any advantage to Rapides S type disks (slotted) I wonder?

The pads cost me £147 earlier in the year for Pagids. Very easy to change (easier than Bmw pads)- there are some good guides knocking about.

ETA- got them from cp4l.co.uk.

Who makes the OEM ones guys?

Like that CPL site "Brake pads form a vital part of the disc brake system" NSS!

Ken, I would always start with Rick at BMG automotive. He's the go to guy for brake discs/pads wear sensors etc.

After that always worth a check on Euro car parts with their never ending sales.
