HI Guys

Is there any downside to having your service book full of independant stamps and not main dealer stamps? Do you think that would that affect sale in any way? It is less than half the cost for a service with an independant you see smile

Best
Mark.

only if you try to sell to someone who is fussy about such things ...I would have thought most educated enthusiasts these days are quite ok with independants ...some of which have much better reptuations than offcial dealers

mine is 3 years old and out of warranty, now goes to an indie who looks after my other cars too ....tough choice when its < 50% of dealer price for same (maybe better) service

Will it affect resale value, perhaps, but in the context of what has happened to resale values, are you really that concerned ? wink

it wouldnt bother me so long as the receipts are kept for whats done and I can check out the indy online etc.

exactly wink

even then, you do the maths, keep the car 3 years, save say £2K on the service bill ...does it automatically make it £2K cheaper as a used car without a full dealer history ?

Im sure most people these days dont really care ...dealers are there for getting warranty work done easily, and convenience I guess smile

nope...Ive lived "up North" for 18 months now ...I use Phoenix over in Accrington ...just a convenience thing really, and knowing you get a spot-on thorough job done for a fair price

i found using a specialist far better, and the only reason i would return to a dealer is for warranty work and buying another Aston, i would not be concerned when buying another Aston if i saw a specialist stamp in the service book, unless i had not heard of them,

There is an implicit assumption that aston main dealers know what they are doing. Uhhuh.

Would not bother me for a three year old car - as long as it was a specialist and not the local garage.
