Finally fulfilled my boyhood dream / fantasy and purchased an Aston Martin. Collected a V8 Vantage in Titanium Silver on Tuesday from Haslemere in Surrey, and had a wonderful, but very steady drive home to Somerset. I never thought all those years ago when playing with my AM DB5 (with lights) Scalextrix set, that I would ever own the real thing.

The Sundance Yellow is a Series 1 Tiger that has done a genuine 22000 miles from new. Even less than my low mileage Vantage at 27000 miles. The red (series 2)Tiger has been sold to part fund the Aston and is the ex works press car used in all 1973 road test reports (Hot Car and Car and Car Conversion etc)

Both stunning. Always wanted a yellow one. Question - I thought the bonnet was all black not a stripe. Was that a Series 1 thing or is this one different for some reason.

Series 1 Tigers had the bonnet bulge with the square headlights and four Lucas competition driving lamps. The Mk 2 was based on the better model GL with twin headlights, but all the expensive options were deleted, including bonnet bulge to keep costs down, but the whole bonnet was painted in matt black.

Many thanks, I guess I have only seen Series 2 versions in the flesh. It's a lovely thing with a lovely Vantage now as well.

Yes the Vantage will live alongside the yellow Tiger once the red one has been collected by it's new owner. It should just fit in the garage now that I have taken down a storage cupboard. The Vantage is somewhat wider than an Avenger. If you like Avengers, have a look in the readers cars section, third page for 'Hillman Avenger GLS Restoration' That is one of my others.
