Sorry FalconWood it's plain old Onyx Black. Must be a trick of the light.

Great picture - I bet the emissions control warning light is on because that car looks to be chucking out an awful lot of smoke. Just look at the fog in the background getmecoat

Thanks all for nice comments on pic

This GT12 has a full tape kit on so no chance of its precious paint getting stone chips.

Here is a pic from a DB11

The latest design of front wheel / arch means all road dirt gets blasted down side of car / sills - so its imperative protective tape is fitted to preserve that beautiful paintwork!!

Your dead right there albeit sadly if you entered the car in an AMOC concours you would be marked down for having it fitted. Crazy.

Quite.

Applying the Heritage concept to Gaydon cars is where the problem stems from.

The concept of a concours measure of a Gaydon car should look instead at, say, 100k miles and the attention to detail of servicing and meticulous care during that ownership (protective tape) to present the car at 100k miles to as close condition as it originally left the production line in. Instead, I see cars prepped to win a concourse - prepped for what the judges inspect, not what represents a fault free car that is mechanically reliable to use.

AMOC - great club, full of great people, but needs to revamp totally to be the club for what will be the Heritage cars of tomorrow, before an independent club comes along and pulls the rug out!

Is this an absolute fact? I don't enter Gaydon but I thought Mark had done a great job with AMOC's concours events. Perhaps this simply needs mentioning to him if it's an issue?

+1, and lets not forget those poor Aston Teddies and hats that have been abused and abandoned lately. LOL

Its all far too ANAL these days for my liking and takes away the fun of ownership.

When folk work hard to be able to afford to buy any car they should not be marked down for looking after it and preserving its condition. In the old days we used waxoyle or zeebart treatment or Dinatrol I think it was called and non of those were applied at the factory.
