The photos from Castle Combe with the Bristol Motor Club / AMOC, it was a good day with three sessions driving round the track. That is not an British A Road is it Which circuit were you on?
Missed that one, would have come to join you. I must have missed the email in my inbox from John at the AMOC.
Do you fancy a great day out at Snetterton on the 19th, Bob (Y100) is organising the day, there is a thread - hurry
One of the best things you can do this year is the AM Performance Driving Day at Millbrook. This is a game changer in the relationship you will have with your new car (you don't use your own car). It teaches you exactly what your car can do and it's limits, I was totally blown away by the day and it was worth every penny spent

William thanks for the kind offer did see the thread for the 19th but busy that day will look out for other possible similar days Rockingham looked good, looking to go the see the AM racing later in the month at Snetterton. The AM PDD at Millbrook looks interesting probably give that a go later in the year.Missed that one, would have come to join you. I must have missed the email in my inbox from John at the AMOC.

Wouldn't that then make it an illegal plate? ie implying the car is two years younger than it is (not that anyone would buy a db5 without knowing its history or when it was built). Or do those rules only apply after a certain date? Hmm will have a look into this

No, it's regardless of age:https://www.gov.uk/personalised-vehicle-registrati...
As it happens, the car is for sale, with registration confirmed as 1964:
http://www.allastonmartin.com/cardetails.php?carid...
thats really odd then, because my second theory was that it was a car that had been overseas, brought back to the UK and given an 'age-related' plate with a D letter by the DVLA by accident. But the chassis is right hand drive, so that seems less likely
'EFF' would, make it an originally Welsh registered car. But not sure that makes a difference
Oh well, sure there's a logical explanation and as I said, its not as if anyone purchasing it is going to be unaware of its true age, so no harm done

My guess is a (later) DVLA error. Given that cars like these would almost ceratinly have worn a private plate at some point and then have had an 'age related' plate put back on. Quite possibly when new (if it did not wear a private plate from new) the car may had a plate along the lines of '123 ABC' as until the end of 1964 some licensing areas were still using old numbers up and did not cross over to the age related plate until C or perhaps even D plates. So DVLA would have had no point of reference later if just looking at previous plate assignnemts. You could imagine Wales with likely fewer new car registrations would have had more numbers to use up through 1964. Certainly some counties such as Oxfordshire did. Long explanation and just a guess!
