Hi Mike,
Happy New Year, hope you had a good one!
Apologies but another DBS question (unrelated to the fuel filler q, the car sat in Scotland for 10 days straight of rain and seemed fine!). My car seems to have developed a vibration in first gear when moving from standstill (vibration feels like its eminating from the front of the car). Its the original clutch so can be a pain but this vibration is new and can be quite alarming until on the move or more gas applied. It started this before my trip north and is still doing it 1400miles later. Its sometimes fine, sometimes bad and I think it gets worse when sat in traffic. Is this something I should get checked out soon before something goes pop? The clutch bite seems fine, could it be a loose torque mount?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Very excited to see the results of Jonny 550 (570? more ?)
On the V12 front, can you give us an update Mike of what is now available. I know there are several options of V8 manifolds e.g pinnacle, ceramic, etc but I'm not sure on V12 what's been happening
So in terms of manifolds, is there more than one option now since the Lance/Oscar/etc spec systems that you have fitted several of ? Not that I'm suggesting there needs to be !! But wondered if you have started developing cheaper and/or more expensive versions in the way that you seem to have been doing on the V8s
And what else have you been fitting to V12 engine cars on the power front - rear sports cats & I think high lift cams are pretty much standard BR fodder whenever the manifolds are fitted ? Obviously there is the choice of the inlet being more torque or more power oriented (effectively DB9 or DBS inlet IIRC). Is that it before you start getting into more esoteric stuff that gets 'deeper' into improving the heart of the engine itself (and therefore into the area of diminishing returns) ?
Seeing the Oscar thread today reminded me Mike - don't forget to give us an idea of exactly what is available these days for the V12 engines

All will be revealed what is available for the V12 very shortly with the release of the 'Project Blofeld' modifications. On the V12 front, can you give us an update Mike of what is now available. Sorry btw, my previous post wasn't meant to jut be a repost - I thought I'd added an 'any news' type comment but must have screwed it up
Reported here thanks to Jockmans kind advice
Morning all. Hope everyone had a great festive break.
I have an issue with my 4.3 57 coupe that has reared its head after the car has been stood for a few weeks.
She runs fine with the only tell tale being a very slight shunting on light throttle until you hit motorways. Once up to around 70 (and a bit) as soon as throttle is feathered at the desired speed you feel engine braking and emissions warning and engine system service urgent warnings appear. Engine management light appears. Limp home mode initiates.
Stop the car, restart and all is ok until same high speed coasting is carried out. Also sounds like she's running lean (pops and bangs on overrun)
Cleared the codes twice and both occasions got
P010a mass or volume air flow B circuit
P010f mass or volume air flow sensor A/B correlation
P2106 throttle actuator control system force limited power
I am happy the last code is generated as a result of self protection by the car and my guess would be one of the MAFS is unhappy but would love some second opinions pls
To reiterate the car runs well around town without problem
Also if it is maf, any help on removing them would be useful
Thanks in advance
Clarky.

Hi Mike, all been a bit quiet on here and hope all's well at home etc. Just in case you hadn't noticed, I've just popped a thread on the main site about my experience today in 'Buck'. Copied here for those that don't surf the main threads:
Ladies and Gentlemen,
For those that are of a sensitive disposition when it comes to all matters BR, then please feel free not to read this post. Mind you, if you have any inclination or intention to either carry out any form of upgrades to improve your performance, or put your pride and joy outside the dealer network for servicing, then you may be interested.
As some of you may know, I had the sports manifold, cats etc done some time last year, and you'll also remember how it transformed my car. I was immediately taken by the change. So, all good so far.
I recently had my car serviced by BR. It was a big one, and the team also identified that my front pads were worn. The work was done and I picked up the car the following day, and after eating donuts and pastries galore, I departed following my chauffeur in his DBS (Callsign Tandoori Express). So, all still good.
Given the dreadful weather, I've not really had chance to get 'Buck' out, but coincidence intervened when my barmy wife locked my Golf keys in her Building Society, and then couldn't get in to retrieve them without triggering a manhunt for the burglars. So, rather unbelievably, the planets aligned and I had to take the car to work and back over two days in the best weather we've had since last year.
Well, I skipped out of work (in a sailor like fashion), jumped in the Aston and opted to take the cross country route from work (Barkston Heath, near Cranwell) to Melton Mowbray then onwards to Rugby. The road is epic and was, I was delighted to see, virtually empty.
What happened next surprised the st out of me: notwithstanding the fact that I haven't been out in it for a while, I can genuinely say that my V8V is simply as fast as I would ever want a car to be. It absolutely sang in the cold crisp air, the brakes were ultra sharp and the handling felt spot on. I don't know what on earth Mike and the team did, but clearly all the bits that were done have culminated in my perfect car becoming just a little bit scary......which was a complete revelation.
So, what's your point Bins? The point is, we all, I think, love our cars for what they are, but when they are improved by total experts (other independent garages are clearly available, genuinely) it rejuvenates that compelling need to stare at it, drive it, listen to it and enjoy it. I left the garage with the smile of contentment that annoys my wife......so my cautionary tale is this. Unless your wife, partner or significant other is a fan of your Aston, don't take it to BR, as you will drop yourself ever deeper in the relationship poo than ever before.
Again, sorry for the rather narrow field of this topic, but you probably sense the fun I've had and I genuinely believe it is down to, well, a certain group of rather talented blokes.

Great to hear as tomorrow I'm off to BR to hand over my DB9 Vol to Mike.
Project Mathis, the rejuvenation of an old friend with some interesting history, is about to begin!

Bins
Rene,not Jonny, Mathis!
The old Italian mate of Mr Bond.
I can see the subtleties are sometimes lost on this audience!
Transpires my car was the last that Mike worked on at AML before BR was born and was his test bed and personal steed for the new Vanquish gearbox software, plus it has an even more personal connection which Mike may choose to reveal, or not...
Apart from service, MOT and some cosmetic enhancements the major elements of the work schedule are
Reworked switchable exhaust to move it to 520bhp with some extra torques as well, for powerrrrr!
New enhanced chassis stiffening plates, for improved handling
Upgrade to DBS type steel brakes with big calipers, for better stopping, which is nice
New beam wipers so I can see where the hell I'm going in the rain
Roll on spring!

Same thing when I chose 'BLOFELD' as my project name.Courtesy of Wiki:
An evil genius with aspirations of world domination, he is the archenemy of the British Secret Service agent James Bond. Blofeld is head of the global criminal organisation SPECTRE and is commonly referred to as Number 1, an official numerical position given to members of SPECTRE. Many of Blofeld's characteristics have become clichés of supervillains in popular fiction, representing the stock character of the evil genius. Blofeld’s appearance and personality change according to the personifying actor: In On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1963) Bond learns that Blofeld has radically altered his appearance......
Hello BRA's, I have been following the great flow of developments on this blog for around 7 months, been into BR many times for small tweaks to my AMV8 4.3 (as I am probably one of their closest geographical customers (it's so easy)), seen many wonderful beasts being worked on including: Jessica, Pearl, Jonny, Blofeld etc.
My BR project had to wait because whilst still under warranty from AML Used Cars, my 4.3 engine had an oil usage issue which Stratstone Amersham managed to mess me around so badly that the Head of Customer Services for UK Used Cars took me under his wing and booked me into Aston Martin Works (sorry blaspheming on this blog). Their team have be very professional and looked after me very well: A new gearbox, a new 4.3 litre engine all under warranty. SO, rambling on but for a reason, the background story leads to where I am today (and with a spare new 4.3litre engine for sale).
In December I decided that I was not going to mess around making my 4.3 faster with bolt on goodies or even an engine rebuild. I decided to purchase a used 4.7litre engine with the aim to lift the number of horses in the 4.3 stable higher than 380...
Last Friday, the BR team collected my 4.7 engine - the start of the complete strip and rebuild begins: Project TSpn (Tea Spoon) has begun:
More project information I think to come from Mike...
My car:
I am so excited I can't contain myself!

Agh yes sorry, TSpn is the number plate we have on the car. My wife and I liked the that this curvaceous, beautiful and very luxurious car could have a non-auspicious and humble number plate - a spoon of the smallest and least grandeur of spoons... The tea spoon
So the little tea spoon will be a wolf in sheep's clothing - well maybe something like that
I can feel some puns coming on: "a little taste of things to come..." . How about: "great results delivered in a bite size mouthful" ? Anyone got some better ones?
