Aston Martin advice from Bamford Rose independent specialist
Discussion
Neil, it's probably because it takes that long for oil pressure to build at the location the gauge gets its reading from. It can take that long on my '05 Vanquish S in warmer weather when the "cold" oil is thinner (it'll flow more quickly, but at lower pressure). Interestingly, the warning light goes out in my V8 Vantage much more quickly. After you ran the engine, shut it off, then tried the procedure again: oil was just circulating -- you're not starting it "dry" so pressure builds up much more quickly so the light goes out quickly.
Thanks Speedraser, my oil pressure quickly shows on the second attempt after starting and leaving for a while, it was less than 3 seconds for the light to go out I think. The light also goes out immediately the car starts. I recently changed from a Vantage N430 and that also was much quicker from cold doing this procedure which is why I picked this up.
Interestingly, Aston Martin changed the procedure for the Vanquish 13 onwards. Contrary to the Handbook, it's:
Foot on Brake
Push ECU in until the ignition lights up and hold it there
Then (and only then) foot to the floor on throttle
Push the ECU all the way in.
Using the procedure stated in the Handbook, the engine fires up. Which if cold and not used for a while, is just a bit alarming !!

My 2012 v12 has the secondary cat removal . I had the bypass vales reinstated and have added a cc remote switch . On "open " it is quite loud and I do prefer closed for motorways /cruising and when not " on it " .
I'd try that first - for £80 odd worth a go ...
For my 2010 DB9 Volante (had 12 months now), I've recently had 'The Fuse' replaced with a relay, on a remote control fob, to alternate between quiet and go noisy on demand - works well and under £100. Fitted by a Boffin in a shed in Berkshire, can't remember the gentlemans name, but very happy with the outcome as I live in a sleepy Surrey village so good to sneak out quietly early in the mornings, and then open up the valves once on the A3. Well worth the funds. However going back over 2012 threads (Yeti?) I'm Very Interested in the details of the Bamford Rose V12 engine improvements for a 2010 Volante DB9.... always 'improved' my stable, so just about to start with the DB9, a set of larger/wider DBS wheels have started the transformation last month and really fill the arches better.... Any long term test results several years on, on the V12 upgrades to a 470bhp start point would be gratefully digested please guys?I'd try that first - for £80 odd worth a go ...
Looking for a help regarding a front suspension creak. (Vantage 2008 roadster)
It's been with the car for over a year now and the noise seems to only appear when you drive on a road with gentle dips and rises.
If you hit a pot hole or go over a speed bump there is no noise, it seems to happen when weight is pushed down onto the car when driving. The noise cannot be replicated by simply pushing down on the suspension when parked.
Obviously looking to start with simplest approach but not sure what parts to replace first
Any help appreciated

Hi Mike
Unfortunately I’ve got an annoying issue with my New Vantage. MY 2020. 4k km on the clock. Awesome car, however nerve-racking whining noise at 100 - 120 km/h. No matter what speed. Possibly coming from drivetrain / differential. My Dealer says it's series standard which I found hard to accept. I’ve been working at BMW Sales for many years and - with all respect - I dare to say this level of noise is not within the acceptable range. What could cause this noise? Any known issues at New Vantage in this regard? What next step could I take?
Many thanks for your assistance and best regards
Erhard

As it's a current MY your dealer should have a couple of cars to compare it with. If you can get a test drive to compare, with a teccy chap in the passenger seat and record the sound, that should give you some ammo to go back to the dealer with.Unfortunately I’ve got an annoying issue with my New Vantage. Hi, JonnyCJ, great idea. Will take it on next week. THX and best rgds.Gents,
Can you help.
I have a coolant leak on my 2005 DB9. It’s coming from the back somewhere below the the fan assembly, not sure if it’s the rad or a pipe .
I want to take the rad out to see what’s going on, how big a job is this and can anyone point me to workshop ,annual or video post.

You can find workshop manuals and pretty much everything on the official tech hub. Some is free, some you have to pay for...not expensive though to get access to workshop manuals etc

i tried contacting Bamford rose for some help, i am based in Austrailia and never got a response after a couple of attempts, understandbly they are very UK focused and its hard to support products from a far, however i have been dealing with AP Velocity as i am looking to remove primary cats on my DB9 and their agents in Australia and Stuart have been fantastic and have a global distribution and support network set up also are knowledgable on astons, cats to be removed in early 2020 !
