My front brake pads i.e for use with V12V CCMs, may well need replacing shortly
Do you recommend OEM or some kind of alternative and/or upgrade. Personally I think the brakes are great and I have no problem with fade, feel or stopping power, but interested in your thoughts if they need replacing anyway

Jonby having had new CCM's recently fitted by BR I can confirm they go with OEM Do you recommend OEM or some kind of alternative and/or upgrade. Not sure a main dealer can do this given their restrictions on what speeds they can do on the road.
Make sure you check

Hi Mike,
Brand new SP10, 600 miles on clock. When cold, started up it sounds like a 20 year old diesel. Top end of engine.Noise goes away once warmed up.
Phoned dealer and advice was to get recovery to collect it. Dont drive it!
Car been transported back to dealers for a week now, AM recovery and dealer giving very little information away.
Recovery/Emergency Assistance informed me on Friday-Gaydon are involved.
I thought it would be a daft sensor /solenoid etc?
Thanks

Sounds like major mechanical failure in a new car under warranty. Why would BR be interested in that or feel the need to comment on it having not seen or heard the car?Brand new SP10, 600 miles on clock. When cold, started up it sounds like a 20 year old diesel. Thought you were a Dr. but you've diagnosed mechanical failure , well done. I'm getting no feedback from dealer so if Mike can answer that its probably x,y or z. I'll be happier than I am at the moment. I take it you've not read the thread or you'd see there is multiple questions relating to failures on new and old vehicles

Yes, I've read the thread and I've spoken to Mike a number of times and had BR fit the 3-way exhaust switch to my previous car last year at Burghley but my association goes no further than that. I suppose my point was that it's the Dealer you need to be hassling rather than BR who've never seen the car (I presume). As a doctor my mother occasionally emails me and says her friend's daughter's child has x, y & z symptoms and what could it be? Same thing. Not appropriate for me to get involved having never seen the person. If they're not happy with the opinion they've had from their GP then get another opinion but not from me via the Internet. Dangerous game.
I'm sorry you're having issues with the car but you need to pursue the dealer that has the car for more info. Hope it gets sorted very quickly so you can enjoy your car again as the SP10 is a marvellous machine.
Well, I've recently purchased an Aston, and recently found this feed, and subsequently spent a bit of time trawling through all 83 pages reading and scanning the content and images. It's been very interesting an quite informative, plus with the bonus of the odd squabble with occasional name calling, a host who often seems to be either conducting a sleep deprivation experiment or going AWOL, repetitive questions, in-depth answers, technically and visually interesting line graphs (no easy task), more shiny manifolds than you could shake a stick at, glowing recommendations, and cars with funny names.
This place has got it all, I'm really hoping it one day makes it to the big screen. Imagine the car chase scene!!
In the meantime I look forward to following the feed and now know, thanks to some of the earliest pages, what I need to do when the call for more power becomes an irresistible urge.

VANQUISH FRONT SUBFRAME
Best reason i ever saw to explain why a classic vanquish pre purchase inspection is a wise move
'06 car with 30k miles on clock.
mint paint and interior
12 months mot
The car looks cherished and gorgeous from the outside and you would buy it in a hearbeat.
but
lurking under the under surface trays which can not be removed for MOT (so pass or fail only what the tester can see) was this.....
Customer was quoted £13k fix at dealer for supply and fit new part.
At Bamford Rose the fix is removal and sit the frame on jig and in our internal fabshop, cut out the corroded parts, weld / repair with new sections from our store of the individual template sections. Then finish with zinc plate and powder coat so the problem never comes back (which will happen with factory part as the reason the corrosion occurs in the first place is a wafer thin coat of paint on frame and not powdercoat) - all done for approx. £10k less than the dealer quoted price.
The left over change did leave some budget for some nicer parts.
Exhaust manifolds, 200 cell catalysts and ECU remap taking the 460 BHP Vanquish to 530 BHP and an exhaust note that is so bass / baritone it sounds to awesome to be described by words.
