I think brake pads are quite pricey for the V8. Seem to recall something like 200-250GBP for the front pads alone?
Doubt you'll find OE pads much cheaper I'm afraid.
That said, they last quite well (mine are currently on 43k miles or so) and work extremely well. In this instance I'd probably just accept it as a cost of ownership.

My DB9 has EBC Yellowstuff pads fitted, which are the same as V8 Vantage pads. They cost half the price of OE pads with the added advantage of no squeals and permanently clean wheels.

Aston fit Pagids as OE pads, 4-2-2 compound I think. These are what many enthusiasts fit aftermarket as fast road/track pads and they are near the top of market price and performance wise i.e. unless you go for a full race/track pad you wont get any "better" IMO
they are around £180 a set for the small 2 pot calipers on a Lotus, so £230-250 a set on an Aston and well over £300 for an RS6 (try one of those if you think AM brakes are expensive!) ....I ran an RS6 over same time period as Vantage as a daily driver and the AM was 2x cheaper all round in servicing/consumables...
the other thing is - are they really worn out? has the wear indicator light come on ? ...often dealers measure them and declare you need new ones, if it wont last until the next service (!)
but judging mm of wear depends on driving style e.g. if theres 2mm left and you drive motorway all the time you could have 6K miles left in them, or 2mm left could be 1 hard trackday etc ...but dealers have a "guideline" to go on so you could be throwing away perfectly good pads which could last another 5K miles etc ...who knows ...but I prefer to wait for the light to come on, and take it in then

As Bogie mentions, the new V8 (2005 onwards) uses Pagids as original fit.Personally won't use EBC pads again after having them on my 7. A car that weighs just a bit over a quarter of the V8 Vantage and the pads didn't last at all (they crumbled) and even when freshly fitted the stopping power was nothing like the Pagids I subsequently fitted to the car.
If the OP's wife is too heavy on the brakes, I'd get her some extra driving lessons to teach her better anticipation etc, but stick to the Pagids. They are very good pads, and work extremely well on the V8 Vantage

Pagid blue 4-2 - the generic version may not have holes for wear sensors but nearest in compound in my experienceis what Aston Martin is using ?

Pagid yellow must be RS-29 and a track pad - you dont want these
Pagid black 4-2-2 are OE fitment
if they are a Pagid dealer then maybe they can order OE pads in for you with wear sensors
otherwise you could try some blue ones, and ditch the wear sensors - they may have to make a blanking plug up to fool the ECU into thinking the sensor is there etc otherwise your dash will light up telling you need new pads permanently

A quick search on here shows I may get away with not replacing the sensors.

AM dealers outside the UK are basically able to hold their customers to ransom, and this is what they do. I'd be surprised if you were able to negotiate anything with a German dealer.
Best bet is to order some pads from the UK - somewhere that will deliver to Germany. Then either fit them yourself or get someone to fit them for you. It's an extremely easy job - no need for a main dealer.

Pagid pads are not cheap anyway, regardless of Aston branding etc ...even for Lotus Elise Ive seen tham at £200 a set per axle, so £250 for Aston isnt out of the ordinary as they are bigger/more pads in the kit
yes you can get away without new wires most of the time and save a few quid that way
consumables are something not to scrimp on in general though ...usually brakes, tyres and suspension components are quite critical to how the car drives ...no point in buying a performance car and crippling it with cheap tyres or budget brakes, but many people do

Anyone have the Pagid part numbers for my MY2014 Vantage SP10 roadster please? It has the newer 6 pot calipers on the front.
I got a set from Eurocarparts, which they said were correct..... Pagid Nos 101870018 front and 101870028 rears, but I suspect these are for the 4pot calipers (unless they use the same pad)
