What do I need to know about the Nissan 350Z?
Can't really justify getting one (have a Porsche 944 with quite a few quid invested although annual insurance is now down to £135). And a baby.
But everytime I see a 350Z on the road I just think 'wow'! Looked at a UK spec car on sale for £8k a few miles away, but it had a cloth interior I know I wouldn't be happy with. Wisdom please ....

If you want leather, on a UK spec car, you'll need one fitted with the GT pack (heated, electric adjustable leather seats, cruise, Bose hi-fi). The majority of 350Z sold in the UK were GT cars, so you should be able to find a good one. The only other option of note was light weight Rays wheels which were available on both GT and non-GT.

You want a facelift as they done a lot of changes including an 80% revised engine with a lower center of gravity, a higher rev limit and 80% of its torque available from 2krpm, better quality interior, xenon headlights, led rear lights among other minor changes to drive train etc. You also really want a gt model as it comes with all the toys such as the bose sound system, leather seats etc.

You ideally want Nav as it removes the awkward cubby hole. Facelift has a bonnet bulge as well which I think makes a big difference and has 310bhp against earlier models 276.

The UK spec 350Z has been available wth 3 engine versions: VQ35DE 276bhp/6600rpm which was in the original model. VQ35DE 'Rev-up' 296bhp/7000rpm which was availible in the limited edition GT4 version of the original model. The 296bhp engine was then made standard in the facelift version (Bi-xenon headlights, LED taillights, upgraded interior trim) Finally there was the VQ35HR 309bhp/7500rpm which had the bonnet bulge to accomodate the taller engine. This car was much quicker than the earlier models, certainly much more of a performance gain than a mere 13hp gain would suggest.

V8? Rare is not what I'd call it.
