A 92' 3SFE back when I was 18.. loved it except for the footwells filling up everytime it rained!

Won't have another one.

More the fact it had the 3SFE in it, which only produced 119bhp.. Not enough for the MR2.

Maybe a NSX next? They are not depreciating any more so it'll be good ownership satisfaction, good driving and good value proposition. I'm considering NSX MK2 3.2 Targa when my MR2 MK2 Rev3 T-Bar dies
Yeah I can see the appeal of an NSX given the super car status although I always tend to buy cars purly on the performance/pound ratio. A VX220 NA would be more my thing. Not as exclusive but has a nice sorted Lotus chassis, good MPG and is at a price that I wouldn't mind throwing round the odd track now and again.

Has the VX220 stopped depreciating and started appreciating? I have not tracked their prices for a couple of years so don't know.

If they have done a hockey-stick on the price and start to appreciate, I would seriously consider one !! (and to buy/rent another lock-up in central London ...)

From my observations, yeah! In the midst of the recession (09ish), an NA could be found for 6 and tubbys went for little over 12. I've never seen a good one with in a grand of those prices recently (not that I check that often). With petrol price going the way they are, I think the market for cheap, quick cars that'll be happy with 95ron can only grow.

2004, my '87 Supercharger. Crashed on the track, sold on, and now it lives again, somewhere.

2005-2009, an '86 SC, modified. Engine blew, sold as rolling chassis. Lives again as a tidy stock road car.

A track car project that went nowhere. Rusty $200 car with a dodgy engine.

AW10 automatic (1.5 carby 3 speed!) parts car.

I miss MR2s, they were insanely fun cars. Next up may be an MX5 or a bike.

Just the 1 smile

UK rev 5 T-bar. One lady owner from new, 58k miles, every toyota service stamp.
Apart from the odd paint chip and a tiny 2p size dent behind the drivers door, it's unmodified and spotless. I wouldn't change a thing smile

I still think the Mk2 MR2 is one of the best looking cars you can buy, I can't think of anything better looking for the price.

Agreed, even after 8 years I still have to turn round and look at it after I've parked up. Sounds like a good excuse for a photo...

VX220 prices have sort of stabilised given its summer, but have been in a progresive decline for the last year I've owned one. As usual, the gap between clean, non-cat cars and more scruffy cat C or D cars has grown larger, meaning a cat D (which can be for very minor claims - the clams are expensive, so walking speed impacts can mean cat D!) if properly looked at prior to purchase, can be had for a bit of a bargain (£4-6K), especially compared to an Elise, and the VX is more mechanically robust due to the GM drivetrain.

Anyway, back on topics..

I've had 2: a UK rev 3 n/a and a rev 3 Turbo. I'll only be selling it when I can afford a decent Elise.

It was nice. I sold it in 2004.
