It's a fair point. Maybe try something completely different - I had a lovely wafty E39 5 Series SE asa daily while I had my last MR2, it was a joy to cruise around in every day and made the MR2 seem much more special. E39s can be had pretty cheap nowadays, especially in grandad SE spec.

Shame you didn't get on with the MG, although any NA V6 in this price bracket will feel underpowered compared to the 3SGTE;)
Very true. Although the 1050kg 160bhp Levin i test drove felt a lot quicker/livelier and better in general. But the two cars are of a different era so it's not really fair to compare them.

What's the cheapest way to insure two cars? Keep the mr2 on a classic policy and a second car on normal policy? Or maybe i could actually have two cars on a classic policy...food for thought. A call to my insurers is on the cards!
I have 'normal' (plus business) insurance on my daily, and a classic policy for the Westfield. Helps that I have a garage for it, but I managed to get a classic policy for my MR2 at my old house even though it was parked on the road.

Well I had a chat with my insurance company yesterday and decided it's just too expensive to insure two cars.

Last night I swapped my MR2 turbo for a Toyota Levin AE101. I'm not entirely happy with moving on from the MR2 but I know I will be back in one another time. That said i'm not disappointed with the Levin one bit. It's mechanically sweet. I will be getting the alloys refurbished and then probably get the body wrapped in white or red smile I maintain that for a 1.6L 20v it is bloody quick. It's much much quicker than my old NA MR2 with the 2.0L 3sge, though the 200gk weight difference explains that. But it sounds brilliant too and you don't see them anywhere, so if I'm going to be stuck with four seats it may as well be with this!

Then in a few months I may entertain the idea of a mx5 or mr2 on a classic policy for solo fun smile

Onwards and upwards, you all enjoy your 2's and i'll see you all soon! wink

I certainly wouldn't feel hard done by with that, it looks like a decent car. You'll have a lot of fun with it smile

Are you going to start a thread on the new toy?

Yeah as soon as i've made my mark on it there will be a thread up smile And from my investigations I think it will be the only one in Readers Cars!

I do miss the MR2 though. Earlier my house mate commented that I was moping around the house like i'd broken up with a girlfriend laugh

That's pretty much how it feels.

I changed my mind. I guess I'm more attached to my Mr2 than I thought. So I'm going to throw money at it haha. Fortunately James was really understanding. I'm going to save for a bit and get a snotter for four seat needs. Sod it. Will keep the miles off the mr2 as well so will actually save money. Now, what's the most interesting Jap car with four seats for a grand? biggrin

I've done quite a bit of off topic posting on here recently, sorry everyone. Here's a pic or two:

And a video if my Kakimoto racing exhaust with the bung in! So much quieter. These are rare exhausts.

Yours must be one of the last Rev2s. All the L prefix ones I have seen have been Rev3s.
Have you still got your Modia wheels? I reckon they would suit the car better.

You're right RD, all the L's i've seen are Rev 3's as well.

I have emailed the chap who bought my previous car, just to see how it's going and to ask about buying the wheels, as he did have plans to return it to standard 15's, but he never replied frown

I loved those alloys! I'm on the hunt for another set of tidy 16's to refurb in gold. The Sparcos are ok but not permanent.

You sold them with the car! nono Are you mad? eek If he was intending to put 15s back on it would have made sense for you to source some.
