MR2 owners - How many have you owned?
Discussion
On my second MR2 Mk2. First one was a 1992 in white about18 years ago. Kept it for a couple of years. Not thought about them till last week but needed to buy an interesting car for a road trip next may. Started looking in the classified, put a what car in general gassing and had a 3 grand budget. Someone suggested a Mk3 MR2 with a zz? Engine. Had a search and a Mk2 import caught my eye. Now the proud and happy owner of a rev 1 turbo T-bar in white in great condition and a number of modifications I know little about.
All I can say is its quick enough for the road seller reckoned on 280bhp and very comfortable. Took a bit of a risk as I did no research but it feels tight as a drum and only has 76,000km.
Looking forward to learning about it and putting a few more miles on it

Phew, bigger than a 2GR-FE. What will it be: a V8?
Cracking looking car btw. Was sorely tempted but I don't have the space...
It's a possible, mechanically the RS6 V8 fits, it's the packaging of the ancilliaries which is the nightmare. But if it worked what a machine as it hauls 2tonne of A6 around like it's not there.Cracking looking car btw. Was sorely tempted but I don't have the space...

That's understandable. This was one of the prettiest and most mollicoddled of SW20s - surprised you let it go.
Cheers, was going to hold onto it but was approached by a chap asking if I was selling. Known him for 10+years and a real gent and I knew he would look after it much better than I could. Also he is keeping it exactly as it is now. A concern of mine was it was worth a lot more in bits than as a whole, not something I wanted to see happen.OlberJ said:
It staying local?
It's staying localish and is now in Inverness with a guy called Andy. You may remember Andy and his son Ali from the previous Mr2 runs we did? Needless to say he has done lots of shows, and toured all over the place in it this summer gone. He's even sent me DVD's of drives etc, he's loving it!
Only thing is now I wish I'd kept it as I'm now single so no need for lots of seats!!

That's mine, also a 2GR (the red badge on the rear centre panel is the give away)Glad yours is staying as-is Lee - they are worth more in parts than whole
I'm still on my first MR2. It was our one year anniversary at the weekend and we had a great adventure to celebrate. But, what to get it as a present? It runs perfectly and needs nothing. So maybe another tank of petrol will do :-)
I absolutely love this thing. I haven't changed anything cosmetically since buying it a year ago. I do have a list of changes I would like to make. However, I have found myself happy with the way the car is at the moment and keep splashing out on maintenance instead (which of course is the right thing to do).
I will change the wheels one day. Hmmm, maybe this could be the anniversary present? Any recommendations on wheel choice? I do like what Danlama had on his steel mist rev 2...

Are the wheels still diamond cut? Hard to tell from the photos, if they are the original diamond cut finish then that is very unusual as most of them get corroded to the point where they are too pitted to be diamond cut again!
Nope :PHad them refurbished (powder coated) last year , here is a picture of one of the wheels pre-refurbishment
