Who did you insure with? Am getting silly quotes of £700+ when trying to insure as a 2nd car (0NCB) but have been driving 16yrs!

Oddly enough, I'm now the owner of a lovely blue MR2, insured by Hastings too smile they mirrored my NCB from the family wagon (also insured by them), so got it down to £400 which isn't quite as painful!

MR2-ists, need some info.

The narrow lower sill section on the Mk2 - it *always* seems to rust.

How are you all dealing with this? I have my eye on a MK2, it's ridiculously clean, but despite the sills having been done recently, the lower section has a few bubbles starting to come through again.

The sills were done a few months ago, but I suspect the upper sections were done but not the lower strip.

Ordinarily, I'd be walking away but the rest of the car is truly outstanding. I've been looking for a Mk2 for a long time but it's really, really difficult to find one without foibles and this one is the cleanest I've ever seen. Sub 70k on a P plate.

Usually when the outers are going, that means the inners are well on the way as well. There are replacement panels for the outers, but the 'real' work needs to be done to the inners, and can be expensive as it's time consuming. Not looking forward to cutting into mine and seeing what lies beneath...

If done properly though, it should last years.

On my second now.

Had a red Mk1 Tbar which I sold, and wish I hadn't, because I had too many cars. Great little car.

Just recently bought a Mk3 in blue and am very happy. It's high mileage but mint condition and drives very sweet. Very much a modern version of the mk1 IMO.

Can anyone tell me if a 1997 on a P plate will be Rev 3 or 4?

Was there an overlap ?

I'm no expert, but I've seen a 1996 P as a Rev 4, so logically, it's a 4!
Any interior pics? Think the interior has some noticeable differences....

Almost certainly a Rev4, as P is August 96 on anyway.

If you can get the chassis number, you can find out for sure by comparing to the list here - http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2/mk2.html?view=k...

I'm on my first still. A Mk1b '87 which I've owned since 2010.
It's now passing MOTs first time and is rust free. Inside and engine is spot on so it's just the bodywork which needs a respray. Don't think I'll bother though! Got some new bushes to fit first.

Got an induction kit fitted and a strut brace from the T bar at the front, as well as the VW P slot wheels.

That's a lovely motor, credit to you.
Always loved the Mk1, since my next door neighbours fella used to bring his blue one round in the late 90's smile

The last picture I took of my V6 MR2 before it went off to a new owner. Lot of dust in the air that day.......

I'll have another with a bigger engine in one day smile
Did this car have a completely retrimmed interior too? I am sure I remember it coming up for sale on IMOC and buy the time I enquired it was gone.

Love to see that this thread is still going.

I am now on my fifth MR2, having previously had:

REV3 NA
REV3 Turbo
REV4 Turbo
REV5 NA
REV3 Turbo (current)

The car I have now was completely restored by the former keeper who has done an amazing job with it. Pretty much every perishable item has been replaced and it has been stripped back to bare metal and then repainted. It was quite highly modified when I got it and since I have had it I have also done a bit, having changed the boomy and battered exhaust for a custom Cobra system (which didn't go down very well with some of the IMOC purists) and a suspension refresh with a new set of KW V3 coilovers. Next job is an interior refresh, then I am thinking of removing the kit and changing the wheels.

Here are some pics, not including my former REV5:

And the car. The previous owner lives not far from me.
Parked next to mine at a show in June 2014.
