What's the general opinion on fun/quality/reliability?
They seem to have received good reviews recently, but I'm looking at £4-5k and 4-5yr old ones, not sure if they have always been so highly regarded?

Any experiences or opinions welcome, I'd be buying it for the missus, so not my regular wheels....

Personally, I think theyre superb!

Brilliant standard, if you fit some good performance mods its awesome smile

Fit it with some braces and it sticks to the road!

Yes I have a 57 plate one been running one since February done about 9k now. So much fun to drive yes it's not that quick in a straight line but that's not the point.
The engine is super revvy with a proper punch of power when the vvti cuts in especially in 1st,2nd and 3rd slightly. Economy is about 35mpg if your hooning quite a bit up to about 40 if your careful. It does only like 99ron seems to run better on shell vpower. It uses its 123hp very well. My friends have asked "it's only a 1.6?"

It's a proper B road blaster. Loves the corners. It's very nuetral chassis with a little under steer to tell you your being too much of a tit now. The ESP lets you slide a little but cuts in if when you really want it. But it really sticks like glue letting you really have some fun at the nsl. It really shows you how to drive fast like trail braking etc. you can't heel and toe easily though. The brakes a very good when really needing to slow down

It's a real pint of milk car where you try and find any excuse to go out at drive it I have had far too many trips to tesco's just to get some sweets so I can go for a hoon.

Yes the ride is firm but what hot hatch isn't? Also service intervals are every 9k which is a pain but its a performance engine so you can't expect long life servicing

Overall I love mine and its a yardstick in performance when I drive other cars. Yes they maybe more powerful but most dont give me the same grin. It's a proper little terrier always wanting to let you stretch it's legs

Also at the end of the day it's a suzuki which are extremely reliable. Just look at rent for ring at the nurtburg ring they have a fleet of fettled ones of these which get ragged and so far they haven't had any big issues from natural causes yet.

Hope this help

Hey, I know this is a little late to the party but I bought a '10 Swift Sport around May this year. Obviously, I haven't had her long enough to really comment on reliability but I've had no problems at all in the 5k I've put on the clock. The driving experience is great, the steering feel is fantastic and the engine is surprisingly energetic. Before this I drove a BMW 318i and it is such a huge step forward in terms of the communication through the wheel and the gearbox is a pleasure!

The only drawback is that the gearing isn't really suited to long motorway driving, as at 70mph the engine ticks over to the quicker part of the rev range (4k RPM) and makes it a little loud. Having said that I've done about 10 trips from Newport (South Wales) to the South East over the last couple of months and it wasn't unpleasant at all, just the BMW did a slightly better job at hiding the miles.

In terms of economy, I'm getting a displayed 36-38 mpg, and I drive it everywhere like it should be driven, with the vast majority of my driving around town or through some local country lanes. This type of environment is where the little Swift really does thrive, it constantly encourages 'pint of milk' driving, where every little excuse is made to take her for a drive!

Thumbs up for Swift Sport. Great little track car. Had mine since 2010, upgraded suspension, braces and brakes. Fun to drive even at slow speeds and good fuel economy.

Reliability on the Swifts is great, in fact on the whole Suzuki range.

I don't own one but have a dabble in a dealership and TBH they don't go wrong often enough to make money on the repairs.

shame they're slow as f*ck though. every review on these seems to start with a disclaimer '...not the fastest car' or similar line. and ain't it the truth. no wonder they handle well, there's no f*cking power to go quick enough to get into trouble!!! smile

Ha my gran bought one after I took her around looking at cars back in 2006. She wanted something bigger than her Smart car.

After liking the Swift she liked the looks of the Sport and ended up with one. had is 6 years and it was faultless for her. Ok she did not drive it like it should have been driven. After 6 years and 25,000 miles she never had a single issues with the car and she never looked after it other than a yearly Service and MOT.

When I took it out for what ever reason it was a fun little car. revvy and had some poke, and the gearbox reminds me of my kit car.

if your looking for a good looking little car, which should be reliable and fun at low speeds then it's a great car.
