This steering wheel is just not acceptable, the leather trim I mean and specifically the quality of the leather. I was in the murano today with its nice feel and perforated grip section made me realise the fx wheel feels poverty spec leather. I have a large leather trim shop locally but I'm not sure they deal with the public, I have asked and will update.
I really cannot agree and am a bit Confused? My steering wheel feels considerably more upmarket than that in the Mini that I've been driving this week, or the MB R350 we have just bought. Leather wise I would say is not far off if not on a par with the Bentley?

I will pay particular attention to it when I get back in it today to see if I'm missing anything.

I also am amazed at your Murano comments. I loved mine when I had it (an original version) and it was a damn good reliable awesome value car, but looks, equipment and drive the FX is streets ahead IMO.

It (the wheel) may have been treated with something but it's more "hard plastic" feeling than nappa leather. I'm going to the trim shop Saturday so will ask.

Murano v FX two very different cars was my point, FX feels like any AMG or more accurately the XFR is a great comparison it's like a SUV XFR Jag right down to power delivery and finish.

The telematics in the FX are the best I have experienced and the hard drive cd ripper was mastered in minutes not like the Merc that means you have to record songs to mp3 disc first.
Seats are near perfect, driving position just so and overall it's a bargain - just ordered a cup coin holder as nowhere for coins, my iPhone sticks out of the ashtray perfectly and I have lined the centre console arm rest tray with felt as bits in their rattled,

My steering wheel feels pretty good too.

Glad to hear that ICR have treated you well Andy, my recent experiences were not very positive but in fairness they have held their hands up and I did receive a couple of goodwill gestures.

I have just bought the ICR extended warranty, fingers crossed its worth the £700 if I have to claim.

I think the Vettel edition has an alcantara steering wheel which I have thought about trying to replicate.

The wheel leather has a coating on it they (the trim shop) think it's a none leather polish been applied, it's easily removed but they can retrim it in just about anything - very impressive.
I am going to clean down the wheel Sunday with some stuff they gave me but haven't ruled out a alcantara trim with purple stitching.

Shame as the original has a great feel and look. I will photo mine.
However alcantara with purple sounds cool.
Anyone on here use the Infiniti FX forum?

I would be interested on a group buy on a steering wheel retrim. Which may make me sound like an sad 40 something boy-racer which I'd like to robustly refute, but I can't.

I think this thread might be the main FX forum in the UK right now. Perhaps PH will grant us our own specific area.....

Wheel trim takes 10 days - no use at all sadly, I will see if I can buy one on exchange the vettel wheel looks lovely and I think would make the car a bit more special.

There is actually a specific UK Infiniti forum, but not much activity on it.

Mk2 murano is THE bargain car, I love it as I have said many times on here I cannot see why it didn't catch on, yes the CVT isn't to everyone's taste but I don't mind it, the ride on its balloon tyres is lovely, the driving position perfect and the kit amazing - tax is full hit and we get 22mpg urban 30 on a run but servicing is nothing and insurance is cheap.
We went to Shropshire the other day - we took the murano not the fx.
That doesn't mean I'm off the FX in a week but the murano us a true family car albeit a little tight boot wise but the FX is a sports car with a big body - a FX is not a V8 Murano they are very different cars.
Paid £10.700 from a dealer fir a 2008 car with 2 years nissan warranty and 2 years servicing it needed no work apart from a polish.
Playing devils advocate thats a 22mpg car, small boot, poor gearbox, its a Nissan, doesn't look great and over £10k for an old car.

Comfy, smooth, quiet, roomy with wide seats good radio and good heater plus a great driving position - one of the best cars (gearbox apart) I have commuted in.

Luke.

I know I stumbled across it some months ago. But as you say nothin happenin. Suspect there is not enough of us to keep more than one forum ticking over. Being on PH does draw in others as well I find.

Over 300 miles from a tank full - I guess the tank is 85 litres one very large tank! If that's in a 3.0d I think you could fill up once a month.
