Has your dealer had a go at rectifying any of them?
It's been in a few times but the problems return after a few weeks, Reading don't seem to be able to find the faults to rectify them.

It's frustrating when that happens! So what will you replace it with when it goes back?

Luke, I should imagine its a Pre facelift car so it won't have the powered tailgate or lane departure that the slightly later cars have. Being very picky the service intervals are 10k or 12 months so it looks like the last service was done 6 months late but on time for mileage.

It seems fairly priced for a dealer car, have you seen the private car on eBay for £19995?

Check the CF trim it may be a sticker - this was a dealer special not a factory one.
Last facelift had teardrop fogs and pinched grill in 2012

I do like this Ltd Edition especially the turbine alloys which I much prefer to mine and the interior CF. The sports exhaust is a bonus, I assume its by Quicksilver and was about GBP1200 I think when I last checked. If you can knock a thousand or so off the price and get a warranty seems a nice motor to me.

T5GRF, great news on the service at Reading. What issues did you have with the gearbox, anything we should look out for?

Wookietaff, I was never that happy with the way the gearbox shifted, it just seemed confused a lot of the time. I know that this gearbox doesnt have the best reputation in this regard but mine seemed more clumsy than most. Reading had it in a while back but couldn't find a fault. I asked them to have another look a couple of weeks ago and this time they road tested it extensively hooked up to a laptop to record the data. The results were sent to Infiniti Japan and I got a call a few days later to say that a replacement complete gearbox had been authorized as a goodwill gesture (car outside of manufacturers warranty by 4 months) I was obviously very pleased with the help that Reading gave me in sorting this out.
The gearbox didn't have a mechanical failure and I didn't really receive any run down as to what was actually wrong with it. The new 'box feels much better and far less confused, so fingers crossed that's my problem sorted!

It will be replaced with a Mercedes CLS AMG Sport coupé, it's being collected tomorrow and the merc should be here in about two weeks.

It may be a short lived thing with my FX50, it seems fatherhood made me think I had to have a car that could go down muddy tracks and stuff and granted the nursery the twins went to was a farmers barn but they start school in September and will be walking to it. As the Mrs is getting a PHEV eleccy thing that will be the family shuttle and really I can go back to barges and stuff. That doesn't mean the FX hasn't been superb, it has, its the most economical 5.0 I have ever had rarely below 18mpg and near 30 on a run.

What's the difference between the EX and FX models? Is one just newer?
We shall need something to replace our Impreza wagon and I thought one of these might work. Is the 3.7 going to seem desparately slow after the WRX?

The EX is a smaller model, available with a 3.7V6 or diesel options.

The FX is a much bigger car and has an additional engine option of a 5.0 V8.

They have both been renamed this year as a the QX50 and QX70 IIRC

DSLiverpool, sorry to hear you are moving on. Have you decided to sell privately or will you be trading it in?

Not decided yet, the car is really very good - I may sell it with 6 months factory warranty left, its not 2 yet.

Afternoon all

I too maybe leaving the Infiniti stable not through any discontent with the product, quite the opposite have loved the 5litre V8 and had no problems with the car at all. But we have just moved home and find that the underground garage where we have to park is a challenge in the FX and I know at some point I'm going to ding it.

So if anyone is interested in a great FX, see pic (if I can upload it) let me know. Else it might get traded in shortly.

Sorry to hear you may be bailing out too, have you spoken to any dealers about trading it in and values?

Yes and what fun that is. Am in negotiation with a couple of dealers now and the prices offered do vary considerably. Not any easy car to value it seems.

Also almost impossible to find a car that offers so much for so little.
