Unknown button on my steering column, help please!

Evening all!
I've picked up a cheap subaru legacy outback, bit of a heap buy mechanically good. I don't have an owners handbook. On top of the steering column is a square button. I've no idea what it does
Oh it's an X reg...

Is it a parking light switch, I think my 2003 wrx had a parking light switch their if I remember correctly.

Does it have P with some lines on it ?

I'm not sure nick, it is a square button with a picture of a square on it and when depressed displays a red sticker.....

Hope it's a good Un. It's my new dump runner and dog carrier. Paid peanuts for it so fingers crossed!

I remember when we had our fiat ducato van someone had installed something aftermarket on the steering column , just a little round red button. I was worried that since it had been used to transport his motorbikes it might have been an immobiliser and ages passed before I dare mess with it! It turned out to be a hands free phone system when I eventually prodded it.

With three dogs of our own I know the importance of a big dog chariot!
