I've been following the prices of used GT86s for the last 6 months with a view to buying an early model next spring. However, the cheapest dealer prices refuse to drop much below £17000.

Has anyone bough a 2nd hand car recently and is £17000 a realistic price or on the optomisitc side, especialy as a brand new car can be had for £21k https://www.broadspeed.com/CarView/Toyota/GT86/333...

Given the view in GG that they are underpowered, and ugly surely the dealers should be paying me to take one of their hands wink

With the current dealer discounts plus Toyota's £1k finance contribution I couldn't see the point in buying used really.

I'm looking at used because my budget is less than a new car, even a discounted one!

Ah my bad mate. I thought you were asking was it worth buying used lol. Well, just keep lookin I guess. You can sometimes find folk selling them on the GT86 specific forums. Be cheaper than from a dealer and the 5 year warranty is transferable. Good luck. Oh, and good choice ;-)

Ive been keeping an eye on prices with a view to PX'ing my S2000. Cheapest ones seem to have been hovering round 17k for ages!

If one were to buy a used private car, how helpful are Toyota likely to be in verifying service histories and warranty validities etc.?

Pretty helpful I'd imagine. It'll still be under warranty so they can expect to get money off you for servicing for a few years.

Nearly new BRZ for £17k and I bet you could knock a bit off that too.

Spring 2015 is a long way off, price wise - you may get lucky. wink

The early adopters who shelled out the thick end of £27k have 'lost' £5,000 p.a. which seems reasonable, given current conditions. £5,000 a year has been good value for money, for me anyway. thumbup

Might end up going the dealer route as my wife has a DS3 on a PCP deal. I'm sure it will have some equity in it ax tbd actual mileage is well below contract.

There is also a dealer in Warrington who is a Toyota and Citroen agent.

She likes her DS but it fills me with meh.

I've been looking at these too and although they 'seem' to be holding their value, very few are actually selling. I'm based in the south east and all the cars I looked at 2 months ago are still for sale. Given the rumours of a facelift, broker discounts and the number of cars coming to the end of their 3 year finance deals I recon these will drop quite a bit in the next few months.
