So the story goes bought a lovely little Ignis sport, was very happy with purchase however the book says RON 98... fine, however the book also says Ethanol levels have to be low, and I am so confused on what to fill up with. Tesco momentum (which is RON 99 but what is the Ethanol rating?) Or Shell V power but no idea which RON this is?! Or do I just buy standard fuel and put in a octane booster. Help ideas please... (sorry for poor grammar)

It'll run fine on either, I never ran mine on anything other than 95 Octane regular unleaded, (with 5% ethanaol, it's all we get over here) and it was grand.

In the nicest way possible, it's a Suzuki Ignis. Any unleaded in the UK will be fine.

If the engine is similar to the Swift Sport, it's an engine with quite a high compression ratio so would benefit from the higher octane. In my car manual for the swift sport and on the fuel filler door, it says to use 98ron for "better drive-ability" and it seems to rev more freely when I use 98 ron. I use shell v power/nitro whatever they call it now.I have no idea about the ethanol levels in either

Personally, i'd alternate between normal unleaded and super unleaded when filling up.

Thanks for the help, did find the Shell stuff was giving me better performance in terms of engine revs, but with the cold winter air might just use standard 95.

Mine ran OK on 95 but much better on 98; bigger difference than you would expect and I only ran on 95 when I didn't have an option for 98. The engine has an 11:1 compression ratio and is designed to run on 98.

I've only run mine on 95 so far but might have to try higher octane stuff for a bit based on these comments just to see if there is any difference.

What colour is yours? Pics?

Looking good.

Nice to see there are a few other owners on PH of this smashing little rice rocket. Often underated, and dismissed for its looks, this is one car that is definately greater than its sum of parts.

I use Tesco Momentum super unleaded 99 most of the time, with the occasional BP Ultimate super unleaded 97.
