Wondered if anyone could give any input into the above model? We are just about to order one to replace our FFRR as its been so unreliable, and I understand these have a reputation for strong reliability, they also seem to have pretty strong residuals, we been offered a cracking deal on a new one and wondered if anyone was running one?

I am running a 14 plate. 12k miles and happy, but it's a different car to the FFRR.

What would you like to know?

I've had a Land Cruiser V8 since March 2012 when I got it new from Vantage in Preston. It was one of the first of the updated versions. It's now done 26,000.
Reliability-wise it cannot be faulted and the build quality is impressive. It's an excellent motorway and "A" road vehicle being quiet, stable and riding on air suspension. On the country lanes it's size and weight become obvious and it needs to be driven smoothly but it's always enjoyable to be in. Expect an average of 21-23 mpg. I regularly use the vehicle for towing big trailers, this being possibly the main reason I bought it. In this department it really excels, with enormous torque, bulk, a long wheelbase and wide track. (Will the trend towards lighter and lighter 4x4 vehicles make them less effective tow vehicles?) Towing MPG (3000kg plus) is around 15 to 19 depending on weather etc. I've not done any extreme off-roading in it, just muddy fields, snow, forestry tracks and it handles all these as well as you would expect. It's certainly a rare sight on the British roads, but can be serviced at any Toyota dealer. The Land Cruiser has grown on me to a great extent over the last two and a half years and I will have no issues keeping it until it's five year warranty is up. As to whether it is an alternative to the FFRR is a good question and in my view depends on the sort of person you are more than the vehicle. The fact that people don't see the Land Cruiser V8 as a "status symbol" could be it's trump card!
