The MOT is due next month and another rash of time wasting pillocks means I have deleted all for sale notices. It's pointless trying to sell a car after people have been wiped out by the festive period and with a month or so MOT I may as well ask scrap money for the old girl.

As I've been using my Panda the brakes will need cleaning and tyre pressures checking but if the car is staying the Rays wheels will have to go. Either sell or recondition as they have been curbed quite a bit by the last owner.

Well I decided to have another punt and put my FTO up for £600 with three weeks MOT.

So this is the conclusion to the thread.

Paid £330
Donor car £300
Clutch £70
Total spent £700

Parts sold so far £284
Car sold for £600

£884 = £184 profit smile

Not the greatest margin and a lot of work (fun) but the chap who bought the old girl noticed the advert before Christmas as was hoping I'd readvertise. He was so pleased with the car I gave him my copy of Thunderbolt to go with it. bow

I'm glad she's off to a good home and will be appreciated for the quirky, fun, fast and sweet handling car she and all FTO's are.

I hope you all have a great 2016

I've only just seen this thread, just wanted to say that's some top work- too many people out there wouldn't have bothered on a relatively worthless (financially) car like that, it's awesome to see these things being kept alive!

I'm a bit gutted I hadn't seen it earlier though as I'd have gladly taken it off your hands. I'm owned a Mitsubishi Starion for around 6 years and I've always been intrigued by these FTOs- particularly having recently had a DC2 Integra Type R and an Accord Type R, I figured the FTO would be kind of like a budget version of one of those...

I'm currently house hunting so serious car purchases are on hold for the moment, but I've been looking at (very rusty) Pumas as a means of having some bargain basement fun for a few months- but this FTO would have been an awesome alternative!

I've always liked them and this was a labor of that. I rarely make anything apart from a loss from my projects. For m it's more about having fun and learning something new.

The chap who bought the car didn't know about the battery relocation trick to save the alternator. wink

If you want something more practical, quicker, cheaper to insure and rarer than a Puma I have something on my driveway that ticks those boxes. wink
