Chaps/Chapesses,

On average, what fuel economy are you achieving from your car? I went to a dealer recently to look at one of these and was happy enough with the claimed 36mpg that the stand next to the car read, however I have my doubts...

These doubts were immediately compounded by the sales guy there who said to be honest they struggle to breach 30mpg...

Thoughts/experience added to this thread would be greatly appreciated as I'm itching to pull a trigger!

Cheers,
Matt

They take quite a few thousand miles to loosen up, mid 30s sounds about right for daily driving.

I'd be looking at buying a 2012/2013 car anyway with probably anywhere between 10 and 20k on it, so that should be the loosening up done!

Ultimately there is a lot of man-maths to consider, but I'd love to run one for a year and then sell it to get back into something more sensible & buy a house and all that other gubbins you apparently need one day... frown

The depreciation seems to be manageable on these as well, not too painful, and there is no replacement coming through in the immediate future so running one for a year seems to be a fairly sensible option...

Im averaging about 35/36 on the dash, mostly B road commuting. On some more open roads / motorway driving you can quite easily get high 30's low 40s but thats not where the fun happens!

Mine is showing around 38mpg the moment, 12-13 mile commute, so about 25 a day, doing about 2/3 NSL rest of the journey is 30-40 zones.

I get around 41 on the motorway and around 36 in town. A full tank can get me 400 miles if I drive sensibly.

Got to agree with that, although I struggled to get more than about 32 on my commute

Average 34-35mpg indicated, car is used daily. Say 75% motorway/dual carriageway.

I get around 30MPg from our 14 plate 86 around time tootling town to and from work.

Best I had was when i toured Europe a the end of May and most was bypass and motorway. The odd town (Geneva) but averaged 41MPG over almost 2k in a week. The was France, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium and included Autobahn at fun speeds

Thanks a lot for all the comments guys.

I'm pleased to say that I found out I passed an exam I'd studied very hard for, and therefore decided this was enough of a trigger to go and buy a GT86 biggrin

Likely picking it up on Tuesday/Wednesday - pictures to follow, it's quite... unique wink

I'm into my second year of ownership and still loving it. It's my daily drive and motorway hack and I regularly see 40-42mpg which I'm gob smacked by. I've even seen 46 when filling up with super unleaded and I'd say I'm a fairly brisk driver.

Absolutely loving it so far bar a couple of niggles which I will get to in course. Also, sorry that I'm yet to upload any pictures of the car. I'd like to but haven't got anything below 2mb at the moment - I'm working on that as it was certainly unique when I first collected it!

The car handles really really well, it's a great thing to drive and I'm enjoying the driving position. Being so low down in the chassis feels great, and I have been glad to find that oncoming traffic doesn't dazzle me as I had thought it might do. The car pivots around you and you feel right in the action - I can't trust it like I trusted my BM yet though, it is happier to step out and feels different so I'm learning its reactions slowly.

In light of the above, I'd really like to take it on a track sooner rather than later - in a weird way I feel that I need to push the car so much I spin it, just to figure out where that point is in a safer environment than a B road...

So far I've done a couple of tiny tiny mods barely worth mentioning, just led interior light/number plate lights, and some TRD valve caps from eBay.

The main thing I'm having issues with, coming from a parking sensor equipped car (and having weak depth perception!) has been reverse parking. I really want to fit a reversing camera as it apparently seems fairly easy - has anyone done this on PH?

I'm happy enough with the fuel economy - trying really hard at the moment to do as well as I can and from the first 220 miles of the current tank I'm at 40.3mpg - not bad. It was the 32.7 from the previous tank that prompted me to try this economy stuff, and I know it might seem a bit lame but I'm going to be doing around 20,000 miles a year so I need to keep an eye on it.

Overall, a big thumbs up!
