Hi there

I have a 2004 Civic Type R, wish I didn't drive for a couple of weeks, and now the idle is going crazy, revving itself up and down constantly! No error messages come up when tested, and the throttle body has been cleaned, but no joy.

Wondered if anyone has experienced this issue before and knows what I could do to try and fix it?!

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

brockovrs

I had this when I first got my ep3 and it'd been sat for a few weeks.

I presume it was just a bit of crap on a sensor somewhere, so I simply took it for a good thrash for 10/15 mins to clear it out.

I had this once, I had left my EP3 for a month while I was away (during a cold winter but still started on the button!)

It took 10-15 minutes of an italian tune up to sort it.

That will mostly likely be your IACV (Idle control valve) They can get dirty and cause the idling issue or if the car's been sitting for a while. It is possible to get it cleaned which can sort out the issue. I had the same issue on my Integra DC5 but in the end i just bought a new IACV as cleaning it didn't cure the issue.

Came here to post this! Mine would just cut out while idling, or once revved and let go of the throttle would just cut out. Took it to Honda requesting to clean the Idle control valve.

Job sorted.
