Hi guys

After a successful MoT pass by my trusty old MX5, I've decided to treat the old girl to some new brakes. Now, the car gets used for fast road/ track days, so i decided to get grooved discs, mintex 1144 pads and I went for some chhep and cheerful braided hoses. I will of course use a fresh and uprated fluid when i do this!

So, the hose kit for the MX5 comes included with a "distribution block", and all such kits seem to include one. My question is, have I overlooked something here? Do I need one? I was under the impression that I simply unbolt the old lines, bolt in the new shiny ones and bleed the system/ change the fluid?

Any advice greatly appreciated

A quick google suggests that the distribution block is a T-piece between the front-rear line and the two rear hoses. And the fact that it's made of stainless in the kits suggests a likely cause for inclusion - that you are never, no way, no how, going to get the mortal remains of the old hoses out of the old block...

The OP in that thread says "The original pipe is crimped to the distribution block so if I'm going to fit my new stainless steel pipes, I need a new block."

Switch to image search, and there's quite a few pics of, presumably, fairly typical kits.

As above, it's to split the rear near-side and off-side brake lines. I don't remember the line being attached to one of the lines but it may have been. Simple to change it in any case however, one word of warning with mx5 braided lines however is that the fronts don't rein on the wheels when at full lock. I'd suggest plenty of pictures so that you can route them in the same way as the current hoses!

From memory the block is on the rear offside line. It splits the rear line to the left and right
