Following on from my very recent shot gun wedding to my Lexus, I am pleased to report, it could be love, but not as we know it.....

Due to an impending move to a city, my Beemer 535d barge had to go, the plan being to replace it with a shed. I'd heard Lexus were good; one forum poster summed it up saying he wouldn't have bought an IS300 over a BMW330i in 2004 but, 12 years later the trade is happily reversed.

The Sport Cross was Lexus's idea of an estate. of sorts. My idea of a shed to chuck in weekly Aldi food and a Dobermann pup went out the window when I met the car on the Toyota forecourt for the first time. Love had struck.

And that's where I still am - 72 hours and 350 miles later. And that's the problem. The car has beautiful low mileage pedigree and paintwork to shame cars 2 years old. Can I use it as a shed? No. Am I feeling the custodian of a rare car that deserves weekly TLC? Yup.

I think I have the answer though.....I need to buy a shed!

hi

the car grows on me daily. I'm toying with lpg conversion too but so far companies I've spoken to aren't giving the conversion a good name.......

spare wheel sounds very useful. is it a 215 or 225? am guessing a 5 spoke if off the sport cross?

That is full fat indeed! How many miles on the clock? I'm new to Lexus ownership and have quickly realised they are gems. If I had stayed BMW, I am not sure I would have had the same confidence with an '04 330 or similar.

I am considering LPG on the basis I intend seeing how miles my IS300 will do but finding a decent installer has so far been hit and very miss. Other jobs to do:

- change its boots to Michelin Cross climates
- get the steering geometry sorted by a company down in Chesham (name escapes me)
- retro fit bluetooth, DAB, iPod connectivity, keeping period CD/tape player in place
- gold callipers (sorry - one minor indiscretion of bad taste allowed?)
- undersea the car with a visit to trustbusters up in scalding
- locate the elusive lpg unicorn to sympathetically convert my baby
- fit rear parking sensors
- maybe powder coat the original wheels as they are renowned for rusting up although to be fair the current ones are really good

not much really...

My ls430 has done 91k. Great cars. Lexus are good cars . Go onto lexus owners club forum you should find any info by asking questions on there. I had the ipod lead connector on mine but I wasn't impressed. That wheel and tyre I've got is a 215/45/17
