Hi,

As title, when cold it sounds fine but for a slight crunching sound. When warm from about 1.5k to 3k there is a knocking noise.

I've:
Given it an engine flush and oil change
New spark plugs and air filter
New chain tensioner
Checked heat shields

Now the knocking noise seems to come from the top of the engine on the drive chain side.

I've unplugged the electrical connector from the spark plug on each cylinder in turn and when disconnecting the drivers side plug the knock stops.

So what would cause a idle crunching noise and a hot knocking when over 1.5k rpm?

Apart from the knock the car drives fine, feels responsive etc, regular service (I've only owned it for a week) covered over 100k miles and is 2005.

What car is this in, MR2 Roadster by any chance?

Would it be possible to get a video posted of the noises?

what was the spark plug condition like on that cynlinder?

i was reading a post earlier on a different forum where someone had the same issue. turns out the spark plug had lost a bit of itself in the cylinder, which was hitting the top of the cylinder on the compression stroke.
