I have recently fallen for and bought a 1995 Nissan QX Maxima - lovely engine, superb car - but having previously had two Cedrics which both died through inability to find parts, I really should have known better. Does anyone have any advice on good routes to find bits? There's a nasty rumbling coming fron a front wheel-bearing, for example... Nissan, of course, just shrug their shoulders and say it's obsolete.

Blue Print catalogue them, so if you have a local stockist / supplier for Blue Print they'll be able to get hold of them.

Get on the owners clubs, a lot of the parts can be ordered direct from places like rhdjapan.com

If you are stuck I use https://www.amayama.com/en

They get most parts for decent enough prices. I use them for the stuff I cant get here but you might have import taxes etc if higher value.
