Wheels and tyres

I have a Mk 2 1999 1.8S. It has 195/55x15Ztyres, in what I think is the "Tornado" pattern wheel. However one wheel is warped and this causes some vibration. I'm having difficulty finding another wheel.

I have available a set of 185/60x14 HR wheels and tyres from a 1.6, which I will fit if it doesn't invalidate insurance etc. Are the 185-14 size an approved fit for the 1.8 model?

My Mk1 1.8 had 14s fitted from new with that tyre size, so you should be fine as long as you haven't got larger brakes.

No problem. In fact the 195/55/15 tyres you have at the moment are the wrong size, should be 195/50/15

You're right, they are 50 profile. The 55 was a typo or maybe I was getting confused with the Mondy that's 55 profile on a 205 x 16, iirc. With 3 tyres of such similar size it's easy to confuse them.
