I just discovered that Toyota made a sport Yaris. Anyone had one of these? I think that they are great great fun and affordable for a youngster like me. What I don't understand is that at the minute I am driving a 1.6 focus and I pay like 720 per year for insurance but, they quoted me 1400 for this one, anyone has an idea why?
I would like to hear from ppl who owned one of these or knew someone who did.
Can this be considered a sleeper without the badges? biggrin

I just bought a Suzuki Ignis Sport. Pretty sure it's basically the same engine.

Plenty of them here in Ireland. A few have been supercharged their a smashing little car great fun to drive . The subtle styling changes are enough to separate them from the granny mobiles

They're not the same engine.

Yes, Suzuki's are relatively common.

Btw, that article also makes the mistake of saying it's the same engine as the Yaris.

Ahhh the yaris T sport. Great little go kart. I bought one for my younger brother.
I say for my younger brother... it was really to feed my secret max power modifying addiction (seeing as i was not old enough to drive when the craze was well crazy). A very rev happy engine. We 'slammed' ours, and fitted a hks power flow anti social exhaust. Filled the boot with twin fli aubwoofers.
And a neon chrome gear stick. Great fun. I shoul really do a write up

I use to own one. I had it for 3 years. Was by far the best car I've had. Great economy and good performance.
I put a K&N typhoon induction kit on it. Sounded awesome and added a little more poke.
I've also owned it's big brother the Corolla T Sport.

I'll list the con's and pro's

Con's

Seating position is a little high
Gear stick feels strange at first
Hard to get OEM parts for
You will get stick for owning a Yaris.

Pro's

Sliding rear bench to give you more boot space
Dials are in the middle which gives you good viability
Good gearbox
Very understated
Has good handling and can be improved with lowering springs and a rear upper strut brace
Cheap to run
Easy to fix yourself. (I'm not a mechanic but I did a few things myself)
There's a good community on F*&£book which has a load of people that will help you out

Overall I loved my Yaris and wish I never sold it. It was a great little car and I rev'd the n*t$ off of it. Never let me down.

I have an Ignis Sport, was looking for a Yaris Sport, but the Ignis was a lot cheaper. Not much between them, engines are different, Ignis is fractionally faster and handle a bit better. Some parts (suspension/exhaust) can be very expensive as they are only available from Suzuki and the car was made in very limited numbers. Ignis tuning parts are also £££, Yaris tuning bits might be cheaper. Very good Ignis Sport owners group on Facebook, plenty cars being broken for spares. Whatever you end up with will be bags of fun, just watch the insurance costs. Ignis is a great track car if you strip it out.
