T7 TLY Evo - anyone on here bought this car?

Anyone bought this car? Silver EVO 7.

Mine until last month and dealer promised me the plate when I part exchanged. However he sold it on b4 it was taken off and now says he doesn't have details of the buyer. If anyone on here has bought it I would really like it back. I have some std parts from the car still in my garage that I would be happy to give to you in return and pay for the transfer.

afraid i can't help about the plate, maybe the dvla could?

but OTOH
the dealer is in breach of contract and you should seek some kind of recompense for his incompetence

Unfortunately it was a word of mouth agreement. Nothing was put down under contract. I didn't think it was needed but it just goes to show...

I have also emailed DVLA - so far without response.

For everyone else out there selling a car with a plate you want to keep - a V5 (which I retained)is not enough to change it over. You also need copy of tax disk and MOT certificate. These have obviously now gone with the car.

I hope to find the owner and hope he is understanding. Apparently he is a policeman??

I think dvla will do a plate/owner search for you(small fee,iirc) if you can satisfy their 'just cause' criteria.

Thanks although getting through to anyone at DVLA is harder than speaking directly to the PM. Their answerphone labyrinth is soooooooo annoying.

Sounds like you've been stitched up to be honest, he probably made a bit extra on the car thanks to your plate, and why wouldn't he have details of the buyer? He would at least have a name/ phone number.

I would be looking at getting some money back from the dealer, and he he refuses, legal action. Don't verbal contracts count for something (I'm no lawyer).

Yes, pretty annoyed.

I can't see I get anywhere with his word against mine - which is what it would come down to.

Just hoping the new owner surfaces and is a decent chap.
