The insanity continues.
On the heels of the 'Jap crap' and 'No substitute for cubes' etc, Adrian has just run at Brunters.
This is their Corolla with a 3S-GTE and ST205 running gear.
200.8 mph in 1.2 miles, Adrian lifted at 8000rpm before the marker.
0-150mph in about 14 seconds. With a knackered 2nd gear selector apparently.
Possibly one of the very few 5 door road cars that crack the double ton. Certainly the only Corolla.
Wound out on the redline in 5th, she should do 212 mph or so.
Respect is certainly due.

Just got a mail from a mate who was up there yesterday and in his words: "it sounded like a jet fighter taking off" 
My mate's standard GT4 managaed a respectable 150mph (he didn't take his tuned GT4 as it's still got a standard clutch and it wouldn't cope with the drags!).

I love the idea of tuner not going to town on the looks of a car, and spending all the cash on the stuff that matters. Wish more people took that attitude (not that I have anything against bodykits etc, so long as it's done well.) Awesome car. The Celica GT4 further down the page is a bit special as well

As Gaz points out, they have a couple of similar spec engines that are used daily. The 'Rolla is thrashed frequently.
They *are* tuning gurus, so I'm sure the cars are maintained to a very very high standard indeed. The bit that impresses me is not so much the engine, which is a custom build, but the fact that the stock transmission doesn't seem to have a problem handling all that torque....
£30K has gone into the project in 3 years, and thats not including the labour.
ive been priveleged to be on the same track and strip as this car, and it absolutely flys.
keep in mind that whilst the car did a 200mph run, that doesnt mean it can do them often - it was fully turned up and swithced on to get it to do this.
an engine like that does require regular servicing, but if done when required, should last a fair while yet.
that is no ordinary 3sgte though - but it definately makes you realise what a 4 pot block can do if bolted down properly and the right amount of air and meths is poured into it.
it realy is an excellent achievement for the 3sgte engine. the kind of power i will probably never own.
