An S2000 on the other hand, costs the same as a 'normal' car, my last 2 annual services were £160 and £300 respectively.

It's a very remarkable car.

The unique engine is what elevates TVR away from being a 'kit car'. The Speed Six engines ARE getting better. TVR will now warrant them for 36,000 miles. As 100bhp/litre engines go, that's remarkable.

And the S's getting 240 out of 2 litres. But it's not only that figure that makes this car exceptional.

I wonder what the next Honda sportscar will be.

Why have either when you can get an NSX for £15k?

The NSX is much more expensive to run, especially a £15k one I imagine. It's not unusual for an NSX service to cost thousands, particularly on higher mileage cars. A new clutch is about £2000 fitted, for example. An S2000 on the other hand, costs the same as a 'normal' car, my last 2 annual services were £160 and £300 respectively.

TD was saying his servicing has cost the same as a Civic's.

Well he's owned one so if that's what he thinks then fair enough. I'm sure if nothing needs to be replaced, ie just fluid changes etc, they are cheap to run. If you factor in tyres, clutch, cambelt, other bits and pieces/ repair costs they are very un-Civic like. A few threads on NSXCB report some astronomical servicing bills.

EVERYTHING's cheaper to run than a 'rari!!! I'm told the Space Shuttle's servicing is cheaper...or that might just have been the back-street place they used last time!

NSX routine services are sensible, but as soon as you need to do anything significant to the engine, it's £££ - those V6's are rather exotic. Ditto suspension for bills.

I have taken all your comments and the general literature on board and have armed myself with a 2001 Honda S2000. I actually preferred the set up, driving position and engine characteristics to the 2004 I drove.

Silver with black leather and a black hood. Picture soon to go on profile and first impressions to be reported as soon as are recorded.

Thanks for all your comments and help. No doubt I will get to know some of you better.
