what happened to the NSX

and the poor TOTB Scooby
and D1 RX7 and classic Soarer.

wasn't a good day for a few

still some nice metal on display, my little photographer will upload some pics later cool

Was it the usual smash fest then? It's not an action day if no-one drives waaayyyy beyound the limit and stuffs it. I'd also expect at least 2 or 3 blown engines.... Ahhh I loved my MR2...

How did he get the NSX on it's side/roof! I presume he got it sideways on the small strip of grass on the outside of the corner?

Had a good view of the NSX crashing.

Looks like he came into the last corner a bit quick and had a bit of understeer, which turned into oversteer (which he held for a while) then the 2nd spin caught him out and he went sideways into the tyre wall. The tyres bounced him back out and rolled him over. Was very sickening to see (seen lots of race cars crash over the years but seeing a private car wrecking, that hurts) and I was going to my track briefing straight after so it gave me something to think about!!!!!!

I was chatting to a Marshall afterwards about the NSX accident. Apparently the bloke admitted he'd had an 'ego' moment and was trying to drift it out of the corner. I guess rear engine rear drive cars aren't mainstream drift cars for a reason.

It was sickening to see though and I was glad he was essentially unhurt, although I reckon it'll really sink in through the week. Anynoe catch a glimpse of those 'wimim' near the Clarion stand wearing bugger all? it's a disgrace I tell you!

As it appears the NSX driver is unhurt, aside from the huge dent to his pride and even bigger dent to his wallet, I'll post these pictures.

wouls have got away with a large panel beating bill if it wasn't for the barriers throwing him in the air

don't know if the concrete would have been more forgiving, maybe he should have taken his foot off the gas

Was it the barrier or the wheels digging in to the dirt? Either way the good news is it held together enough to protect the driver.

Can it be repaired though. The floor pan looks to be ok so new pillers, roof and side panels....

May I be the first to say - "Bit of T Cut, it'll be fine!"

Seriously though, I'm glad the driver is ok, could have been very nasty indeed. Most of the NSX's were driving miss daisy, so hats off to him for actually giving it some!

We will be attending the show with our Murtaya demonstrator vehicle as part of the Engine Tuner of Plymouth (Alan Jefferies Engineering) display. The demo car will also be out on the track during the day with pasenger rides available for anyone who is signed on and wants to find out more about the car.
Looking forward to meeting lots of you there.
Neil.

That was a blummin lovely car - we did have a nose around it. Looked good on the track too.

Trackside - did you take those or get them from elsewhere - stunning photography, I was at Quarry so didn't actually see the crash taking place. Was only the start of the 1st or 2nd lap too wasn't it? Cold tyres I'd say......

I'd say more passion than talent! People are wary of quarry but the 2 of the 3 bigger accidents i've seen have been on this corner. There's a vid of a scooby from a few years ago going basically the same thing but not hitting the tyres and slamming into the armco.

Here you go. This is the scooby doing the same thing. Trying a drift. Getting it wrong and hitting the wall.

hehe classic 4wd mistake there - too much opposite lock and left it on way too long (then probably thought he was gone and lifted off the gas to try and save it. not usually the best option in a Scoob)

IIRC there was a fairly big thread about it in the trackdays forum last year, the guy knows what he did wrong and wasn't trying to make any excuses about it.
