Enjoyed my first Japfest made a bit of a prat of myself with Mr Declan Hicks lol reckoned he thought I was a pro photographer "are you declan hicks" "where do you know me from" "errr".

Got caught out in the roadworks outside Castle Combe a fellow club member kindly slammed into the back of my swift sport pushing me into the car in front which had a rather large towbar at radiator level!

I'd say more passion than talent! People are wary of quarry but the 2 of the 3 bigger accidents i've seen have been on this corner. There's a vid of a scooby from a few years ago going basically the same thing but not hitting the tyres and slamming into the armco.

I remember that! very amusing - for us........ Rallycar day always good for a few mistakes also.

Camp and Tower worry me far more than Quarry.

Trackside - did you take those or get them from elsewhere - stunning photography, I was at Quarry so didn't actually see the crash taking place. Was only the start of the 1st or 2nd lap too wasn't it? Cold tyres I'd say......

I took the crash sequence photos. Horrible to watch, just glad he was okay. It did happen at the end of the first lap and he was the first car round...

Guys

Nice to know I am famous but for all the wrong reasons. T'was my NSX off at Japfest.

To be honest seeing the video of the incident, the flip roll and aftermath I am just glad to get out relatively unscathed, although as you say dented wallet and bruised ego are the worst. My missus came off worse than me in terms of shock factor. She was videoing !!!

I would like to confirm my "drift " comment to a marshal was just bravado. Anybody who has driven an NSX knows these can't be held very easily in a drift and I know I don't have the talent for such a piece of showmanship.

I can confirm I was caught out most likely be cold tyres although I felt a lot more grip in the other parts of the circuit

Lesson learned? Get trackday insurance

Same sentiment here. I blew up my engine a few years ago on the very same corner, and while not as expensive if i'd heeded the warning of missing coolant and smoke after the 1st session It might not have happened.

With no insurance do you have plans for the car? Although it might not be road repairable i'm wondering if you bend it back into shape and cage it to make it strong and use it as your track car... Just looking to see if theres a silver lining.

Guys, just steering away from the NSX incident a bit I wondered how people felt about taking passengers out on their track sessions.
I was there with a club took the car out on track in the afternoon, one of the club members asked if he could jump in as a passenger, which I was more than happy for him to. Are other clubs as friendly as this? Do you guys take passengers and if you do, how would it go down to have a random bloke like me walk up and ask to jump in? With all the fancy cars there I was thinking it would be the perfect opportunity to get a ride in a car that i'd probably not normally.

I saw the nsx crash clearly - annoyed at myself that I wasn't ready to film it! Getting enthusiastic on the first lap seemed to me a bit of a rookie error. And keeping his foot in it after things started to go wrong! There was quie some time between the first 'fishtale' and the eventual crash.

The rest of the NSXs took it (understandibly) slow for the couple of laps after but then another (silver) NSX did the EXACT same thing a few laps later but his last fishtale took him the otherway onto the grass.

My pics of the day are here:

A couple of vids (more to be uploaded) here:

And some other pics I came across (some are the same as the previously posted NSX crash ones):

Well Wildcard my answer to you on that is back on to my subject, and that is do you trust the driver???

Seriously I would have trusted me before going out (I have been doing trackdays for 7 years FWD 4wd and previously mid engined rear wheel drive in a tuned MR2 SC) but how would I feel if I took somebody , crashed rolled it and hurt them (and not me)

I would be feeling bloody terrible right now

Best to go out with people you know, I reckon

Fair point Simon, although common sense would dictate who i'd ask for a ride with, some young scrap of a lad with his cap backwards and a stupidly powerful motor or a chap who looks experienced, in a car he obviously has pride in, i'd be happy to take the chance given the odds, besides, accidents happen, you won't get anywhere not taking risks IMO.

I don't have any photo's i'm afraid, the ones here are the only i've seen really other than a few of your car on the back of the trailer. I hope you don't mind me asking, are you having to swallow this or are you covered in some way or another? Obviously, tell me to mind my own if you want.

She is an Estate Agent in Colorado. She has been servicing her clients for ten years and is currently taking offers on a lovely plot on Stinky Gulch.

I kid you not.

What she was doing at Japfest remains a mystery

Try mailing Trackside. He is the one that took the pics of the incident.

Glad to see you are ok. There was the oohs and aarrrs from the crowd during the spin, then silence as reality bit!

It looks worse than it is, it should be racing at Silverstone in less than 2 weeks to try and win the 2nd Time Attack round of the year.
