Guys, just steering away from the NSX incident a bit I wondered how people felt about taking passengers out on their track sessions.

After hearing too many stories of drivers getting the arse sued off them after incidences by their passengers I'll only take the usual suspects for a ride now around the track.

Funny you should say that... did you see the 'usual suspects' at Combe on Saturday? A White R32 GTR, Grey R33 GTR and a Silver Supra TT with green stripes up the bonnet calling themselves the usual suspects.

I can confirm I did not and have never put in place trackday insurance. I have trusted my driving over my 7 odd years of trackdays

Only once did my standard insurance cover track and that was with a tuned GTFour I still have to sell.

So lets just call it dented ego and bruised wallet. Lucky my new job gives me a company car shortly, of my choosing. Every cloud.........

I wouldnt want to be Tiff Needell anyways. Hes old and ugly LOL

Most of the NSX's were driving miss daisy, so hats off to him for actually giving it some!
Sorry but I have to react to this comment.

I was one of the drivers of Miss Daisy on the track, probably the slowest post-incident in a red black 3.2 at the back. I would expect better from an S2 owner to be honest (although maybe I shouldn't), we have somewhere in the region of 350 NSX's left in the UK roads of which only probably about 150 are in general circulation and due to this they are pretty unique.

If you were supposed to be on a sensible track session to stretch you hand built pride and joy's legs a little legally and get few nice pics would you then proceed to give it some beans if on the first lap one of your fellow club members stuffed it monumentally into the barrier (and for all of us in the cars knew could have been badly hurt)? I suggest you wouldn't. Plus as an S2 owner I assume you take into account that they can be pretty snappy, as can the NSX (I have owned an S2 by the way) and that came into play also on the track with the way some of us drove.

If you think it is clever to drive too fast, and in the process wipe out a very special car then that is a pretty sad reflection on the way car forums can be an easy way to hide away from common courtesy and above all common sense - all from behind a keyboard.

As has been said the main thing here is that Si is OK - and his car will live on in various pieces with many others in the club.

Regards, Matt.

Matt,

It wasnt meant as an inflammotary comment by any means - the driving miss daisy comment was merely intended as a reflection of the fact that most of the NSX drivers weren't, by your very admission, giving it the full ten tenths.

You're reading too much into it mate.

Fair enough mate, it would've taken the edge of it a bit if you'd got a claim somewhere along the line. I understand about not bothering with it though, I have never and probably will never get insurance for my trackdays, trouble is you never think it's going to happen to you.

Dented ego and bruised wallet it is then, see you around.

Also, I was actually referring to the session before the incident.

Hmm, watched that one go off too. The track was slightly damp for the first SX session which I think is what caught the poor bugger out. At least he got to drive his (dented) car home though...

Guys

Nice to know I am famous but for all the wrong reasons. T'was my NSX off at Japfest.

To be honest seeing the video of the incident, the flip roll and aftermath I am just glad to get out relatively unscathed, although as you say dented wallet and bruised ego are the worst. My missus came off worse than me in terms of shock factor. She was videoing !!!

I would like to confirm my "drift " comment to a marshal was just bravado. Anybody who has driven an NSX knows these can't be held very easily in a drift and I know I don't have the talent for such a piece of showmanship.

I can confirm I was caught out most likely be cold tyres although I felt a lot more grip in the other parts of the circuit

Lesson learned? Get trackday insurance

:O(

Just a quick question re the damage to the car? I'm assuming it is a total loss to you, in which case have you considered re-panelling the car in one of those aftermarket widebody kits. I know the roof is foobarred but perhaps that could be replaced/repaired & a suitable cage fabricated. Turn into a proper track car. Obviously I've not seen the damage at first hand, though I have seen what can be repaired by the rally boys & I've seen a lot worse brought back to life.

Turning a bad weekend into something positive might be a way to console yourself, the prospect of losing a car of that value can't be good. Plus if you want to join the Monaro boys on the next activity day wink I'm sure they'd be more than welcoming.

Loss already partially recouped as the damaged NSX has been sold to the NSX forum members for strip and share......the car will assimilated like the Borg.

Indeed the car was sold to AMO of the Turbocharged NSX fame for stripping selling on etc

My loss wasn't so bad financially in the end as I didn't pay full price for the car

Will take up the Monaro offer though !

Now driving like Miss Daisy on the roads of Edinburgh in a brand new Honda S2000 GT and loving the 4 pot Vtec sound !!
