They are very similar, yet so different. The scooby is designed to be uber-fast, and handle stupendously, but have an everyday usefullness, the EVO on the other hand is like a saloon version of a radical. Designed purely to go fast, handle, and it is much harder to live with everyday. What do you need it for?
As far as performance goes they're close enough that you'd have to be driving like a bit of a nutter to really notice any difference on the road, so for most people it comes down to a subjective decision over which they prefer. (Factors used to be blue/red, McRae/Makinen etc but Mitsi don't really do the WRC thing properly anymore)
As others have said, Evo is a bit more hardcore, pointier handling, the STi a bit softer, easier to live with, handles bumpy roads a bit better.
And the Scoob sounds sooo much better than the sewing machine/Evo

how do you mean harder to live with?
rock hard suspension that will knock your fillings out and break your back, servicing every 4,500 miles which is a pain in the arse and hard on your pocket, drive it on anything less than a smooth road and it will skip and jump about more than a frog on heat, and i have to say....not as nice looking as a Scooby chriz1 said:
so seriously what mpg should you expect driving tidy from both cars?
Or how much ££ to cover 100 miles?
24/27mpg on a runOr how much ££ to cover 100 miles?
18/22mpg around town
7/9mpg on a track day
This really depends on how nicely you drive, however drive like your arse is on fire all the time and you will soon learn not to
As for the EVO i hear they are a little thirstier all round.

so how much dosh we talking to cover 100 mile at that rate?
Do the sums.....@ 27mpg....100miles is 3.7Gallons
£1 per litre (super 99RON).....4.5litres to the gallon = £4.50 per gallon.
4.50pg x 3.7 = £16.65
If your bro is overly worried about what it will cost to run then neither EVO or Scooby are the right car for him. You'll get around 250 - 280 miles per tank and it's a 50 litre/11 Gallon Tank.
I hear Smart Cars are economical

Eh ? Are you on drugs ?Don't get me wrong, I love my scoob but as standard they are 'quick' at best, not "uber-fast" and the standard car handles like an understeery bag-o-shite which happens to have loads of grip and traction.

You do realise its winter here at the moment? Or will you be a bit closer to the equator? If you end up in the bottom half of NZ at any stage I can show some highly entertaining roads though
