The final WRX

Impreza GB270

The Impreza GB270
The Impreza GB270
Subaru is saying goodbye to the current Impreza with these two special run-out editions.

Called GB270, they offer around £7,600 in extra equipment for the saloon and just under £7,000 for the Sports Wagon.

Both models cost £22,995 on-the-road, only £2,898 and £1,898 more than the standard Impreza WRX saloon and Sports Wagon respectively.

Named after Rally GB – Subaru’s most successful WRC stage – and the 270 PS the Prodrive tweaked engine produces, the GB270 models can be ordered from 10th July with first deliveries planned for 1st September.

The GB270 Sports Wagon

Numbers will be strictly limited to 300 for the Impreza GB270 saloon and 100 for the Sports Wagon.

After the recent RB320 edition marked the end of the STi model as we know it, this is your final chance to buy an Impreza WRX.

The all-new 5-door Impreza hatchback will be launched this autumn in 1.5 and 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated versions only. A turbocharged STI returns in the spring (which we showed testing at the ‘Ring earlier this week) but there will be no regular WRX turbo model in the UK.

The standard Prodrive Performance Pack:

Both models benefit from the 270 PS Prodrive Performance Pack which boosts power by 40 PS and torque by 74 lb ft to 310 lb ft.

Special seats available, at a cost

The result is a 0-60 mph time reduced from 5.9 to 5.3 seconds and a 0-100 mph time of 13.9 instead of 14.4 seconds. Mid-range response is said to be ‘substantially improved’.

Other shared features include a lowered spring kit, ‘quickshift’ gearchange, special carpet mats, MOMO ‘Air-Race’ gear knob, larger-diameter 18x7.5ins GT1 alloy wheels and GB270 exterior badging and individually numbered interior plaque.

Impreza GB270 Saloon

  • Specific to the Impreza GB270 saloon are a WRC-style rear spoiler, stainless-steel mesh front grille, STI front lip spoiler and silver-finished alloy wheels.

Impreza GB270 Sports Wagon

  • The GB270 Sports Wagon gets a rear waist spoiler, front and rear aero splash guards, rear privacy glass, black stainless-steel mesh front grille and gloss-black alloy wheels.

In addition, both models will be available with an optional ICE pack consisting of a Clarion SatNav and iPod adaptor and Bluetooth ’phone kit for £1,750.

Other extra-cost upgrades include a GB270-branded leather or Alcantara/leather interior for £1,400 or £1,600 respectively and privacy glass window tinting for the saloon at £405 (all prices include VAT).

Sounds like value - £7,000 for £1500! (give or take)

This is a lot of car for the money and this is great, but you just know that it is deemed as a chavvy car (imho), which is a shame.

IMHO I reckon Subaru are making a mistake going from a saloon to a hatch...time will tell I suppose? scratchchin.....still, the run-out model looks great value....but as was said previously....a bit too 'max powered up'! yes

think that the Wagon looks a little OTT.

Agree that it might be a mistake to go from a saloon to a hatch. For those that had a problem with the saloon they could choose the Wagon.

Love the wagon - [though I would as I have the sport version].
Lots of power too. Hmmm.

Whats folks opinion of resale values in 3 years? My X reg wagon cost £5k two years ago and is not worth a lot less now. How well would this hold up with a new model coming in?

I agree that its very good value but the extra kit doesn't sound like £7,600 worth to me!

Agreed.

£1k for the lowering springs, quickshift, mats and gearknob
£1k for the wheels
£1k for the shinier engine bits (we all know shiny=more power)
£1k for all the body tat.

And
Um, what else was there?

Would have been v.tempted by the wagon but the bodykit really doesn't work for me. Think the WRX CZS Zerosports wagon looks far better...

Ah you forgot the "individually numbered interior plaque", thats got be be worth the extra cash smile Looks like there is Sat Nav in the pictures, not sure, is that not usually an option? Or is it even included in this special price? Still, it seems like a great deal, I was thinking prices would actually start to climb without a new direct replacement.

The wagon has never worked for me, design has always seemed a little too fussy and with the body kit thrown on this one, starting to look a bit ott.

It doesn't sound like a bargain when you consider Motorpoint are selling them at the moment for 13.5K brand new!

Subaru are just slapping some extras on, to get rid of the old stock and make way for the new model.

Think i would prefer to save 9 grand than pay Subaru the money
