Yet another pointless special edition, let them keep it! the one thing everyone wants to see is a higher power version an thats the one thing they seem unable to give
there were a couple of turbo'd onsed at Rotorstock last weekend... I'm fairly sure they'd be a little more interesting to drive!
I love my RX8 but a higher powered version would be nuts when it already returns 20mpg on a good day. That must be the main reason they cant give them away over here (0% deals etc) because overall I think its an excellent car. I wouldnt have one if I had to pay the petrol though.

The idea of weight loss would be a good idea and maybe they should have done that instead (club sport style).
The huge benefit of the turbo is it only uses more fuel when you need it.

My RX, running something in the region of 400-430bhp gives me about 22mpg. On long motorway runs it's about 25-26mpg. Not bad considering.

That's also why turbos are seen as a key way manufacturers are going to meet emissions targets whilst giving useful performance!

My RX-8 averages less than that but does slightly better on a motorway run. The 8 is a tad heavier than the 7 (though not by as much as I imagined), but the thing that really slaughters the 8's day to fuel economy is the stupid Euro IV catalyst warm-up time requirements.
