Is it just me, or is this suspiciously cheap? The only thing that I can see that would drop the price would be the 51k, but down to £16k? It's only £500 more than this Type-20 that sold: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/244489.htm

Or is this older Spec-C a better deal: http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/stocklist.asp?i...

Very tempted for my next car...

Hmm, The Type 25 does seem a bit of a bargain!

It's the older Type 25 as the new ones have the Cosworth engine with 415 bhp. I drove a car with the newer engine and wasn't entirely convinced. Galactically fast but the engine dominated the whole thing. I suspect the older Type 25 as seen here will be more balanced.

The Type C is uber stripped out. It'll be noisy and a real back to bones experience compared to well equipped modern scoobs but evo magazine had it down as the best of the lot.

I'd suggest a trip over to Tewkesbury to sample Litchfield's goods (They're a nice lot too).

I suggest this is a scam. The ad says location in Cambridge but the number is 0032495344707 which is in Belgium and smacks of dodgyness. It's been there for 45days already. If anyone thought that was genuine they would have snapped it up but it looks too good to be true, so it probably is. That's way cheap!!

PH should be removing it asap!!!

Good spot - "if somethings too good to be true...".

Am planning on taking a trip over to Litchfield (only an hour away), but am not in the country for another few weeks, so will have to wait.

Is the Spec-C really that much less comfortable than a Type 20/25? I thought they could be spec'd with electric windows/aircon etc to make them a bit more 'every-day'.

I saw that Type-25 was the 350bhp model, and tbh imagined that I really wouldn't miss the extra 65bhp and it would be quite enough to start with! Not planning on any/many trackdays, just want fast, usable point-to-point car for 365 days a year.

Obviously I'll be keeping the S2000 until the summer comes though!

R

PS Any thoughts on insurance for a young (25yo) driver on an import like this? I suppose I need to get some quotes from specialists - or is this pretty much a non-starter? Thanks.

Is that an import? Always thought that they were a lot more than UK models to insure. Also, only have 2 yrs NCB (was a named driver for too long...).

Cheers though.

Does anyone run a 2003 Spec-C and have any opinions on it as an every-day car?

I have Mrs GMan(26) on my insurance for my 04, STi with PPP and it's just over £600. I'm 33, with 5 years no claims, if that helps but I doubt it.

I emailed Litchfield last night about the car and apparently it's not a scam and he thinks it may have just been traded in with David Hendry Cars in Malmsbury.

So my apoligies for being so quick to judge. But it's better to be safe then sorry.

Oh well....looks like we were wrong, although all the indicators led me to think it was definately a scam with the Cambs location and Belgian telephone number, you never know. Better to be safe than sorry i suppose smile

Indeed - looked suspicious to me too!

However.. http://www.trinityweb.co.uk/vehicles/dhcars/displa...

It now just looks like an absolute bargain. New MOT, 6 month warranty etc...

It's not the same car as that advertised at Litchfields ( I was over there on Monday)
The DH car is the genuine item (though it allegedly needs a good nights sleep) think about it. . . . wink

Thanks for letting us know about that advert.

I decided to remove it just to be sure, the telephone number was the thing that swung it, but if it does turn out to be genuine then i will happily reinstate it.

If you spot any more then you can just use the "report to administrator" button in the top right of the advert to bring it to our attention. This will also remove the advert automatically until it can be moderated if it is reported by enough people (currently 2).
