Any darn fool can press the throttle and get to 60 in 5 seconds or less. I ought to hand in my PH badge, but never driven an MX-5.
I gather the fun is in the handling and being able to get to nine tenths on normal roads without getting into too much trouble.
Hoping to try one of the new generation due later this year - looks promising.

You'll be pleasantly surprised. A bit different to the evo I had many years ago, but by no means inferior. Whole different skill set.I ought to hand in my PH badge, but never driven an MX-5.

The chassis is fun. Not the best handling car in the world by any stretch of the imagination but easy to control a little slip or oppo a little slide without any dramas - and all at a sensible speed.
Add in perfect reliability, comfy interior, great driving position, cheapness and even a half decent stereo!! and you begin to see why some of us love them so. They just make you smile/happy.
OK not everyone's cup of tea (what is) but a beautiful day here yesterday so out she came, roof down and a run up to and around epping forest with the misses for cup of tea and a nosie around all the bikes - perfect Sunday.

Not been to this thread before or waded all the way back yet but here's my little contribution;
It's a Daihatsu Sirion Rally 4, didn't even know they existed until one blew the doors off my road rally 1400cc MGZR. My daily driver is a STR Jaguar but I wanted something small that I could use for the commute (10 miles) and might have the ability to actually move when it snows. Had it three months now and what a blast. Accepting it's made from tin foil and recycled plastic bottles, the lack of weight, a peppy 110hp Yaris motor and 4wd makes it properly good fun.
The best bit of course is the complete anonymity, no one sees it, worries about it or races it. Until I whizz past them of course
