For the CRX which at the moment is on 195/55R 15's :
Yokohama A539's are indomitable until there is the slightest wettness on the road, then they become, eh hem... very playful. The stiff, square sidewalls give then high ultimate grip, but they do let go suddenly.

Toyo Proxes T1-S's (current tyres), as specced by TVR and Subabru, are just awsome in any conditions with a very similar tread pettern to the Eagle F1's. They have a more rounded shoulder which makes them more progressve on the edge and they seem to have a wider footprint with respect to their stated size, so they are very grippy too. This extra grip really works the rear wheel steer on the car and tranforms the high speed handling.

I've got falken 451's on my tubby, and they really are great tyres! I had the 539's when i first giot it and they were ok, then went to AVS Sport (yokos), and they were superb in the dry, but crud in the wet! best ones I have had, and best by a long way budget wise were the falkens! You won't be dissappointed my boy!

Did GY ever sort out your self destructing set of F1's MrE?
Can definately recommend GY F1 GSD3's (newer model) even on a weighty car, like the R33GTST they give tons of grip in the dry with enough *feel* for confident breakaway. Good enough in the wet. Quite pricey &,imo not very durable, but worth it if you care to stump up ~£110-120 (17"x255x40)per corner. On my 3rd set now & averageing <>6-8k miles for rears.

I have bridgestone RE01's on the FTO which are fantastic in the dry and surprisingly good in the wet, however they do produce alot of road noise...
The general consensus over on MLR is that the Toyo T1R is the best overall replacement for the OEM Yokohama A046 that comes on the Evo. The 046 is not E or C rated (or something) so is not sold in Europe.
The Yokos got a little bit interesting in the wet - they just don't shed water!! They were outstanding in the dry, though, with really stiff sidewalls which make the steering on the Evo incredibly direct.
The Toyos have softer sidewalls and when they first go on there is too much tread flex but now they've worn a bit I'm pretty impressed with them. They are way more grippy in the wet with a much more progressive breakaway. Dry grip is compromised slightly but their ride and tyre noise is much improved. They are also only about £80 a corner.

Of these on the Rex and they're awesome. At least compared to the Jap spec Bridgestones it had on before. Done well over 12k on them and no appreciable wear, even on the rears. Maybe a slight weight diffeence between the cars but I've done a few track sessions and a VMax on them and don't ahve all that light a right foot.
Could be because the rex grips well though so there's little spinning up of the rears though - that'll wear them quicker than anything!
Will replace with something more track-focussed next time though. Rex was a daily drive when these went on but have the 4x4 for inclement conditions now...

Yes. Their tyre expert took one look and said "errrrgh. They be ed".
And replaced all 4 at no cost.
(actually, he said it was probably cosmetic, but at 120 quid a corner, probably wasn't good enough, and then replaced all four).
Interesed in trade price, as we have 2 cars outside wearing GS03s, and Mrs E has a habit of popping tyres at the moment (3 or 4 last year alone).

Maybe the FTO has a softer chassis or something, but I find the RE010s to be sensational in the dry, but a bit scary in the wet (DC2). They just don't seem to have a great deal of grip in the wet and are a bit prone to tramlining.

well to be fair its only the first set of 'real' tyres i have had on the FTO..
the first being made from used Durex i think
and as mines lower the tramlining is dreadful anyway, but yes, they do pull rather badly :S
Tuttle should be a savings of 15-20% but let me know if you need some as i'll confirm.
He'll deliver to me, then i can pop around and pass them on

It's the lube they use, notorious for its poor traction qualities
