Bonnet Badge on E39
Discussion
Hi,
The bonnet badge on my E39 is looking a bit manky so I've bought a replacement. I just want to know how best to get the old one off (I don't really want to end up forking out for a bonnet respray after having a go at it with a cold chisel and a 4lb lump hammer if there is a better apporach ).
Oh, and securing the new one; what's best to use?
Cheers
Anthony

The badge on mine is slightly wonky, but I don't know how this can be possible!
Where did you get the new one? Mine is also a little cracked.
FleaBay is your friend! Mine is new (wouldn't like to guarantee it is OEM though...but it might be) but there were also second-hand ones on there being sold by car breakers, etc. Either way, should be able to get one for less than a tenner...Where did you get the new one? Mine is also a little cracked.

Be very careful not to break the pins - they are plastic, and brittle at this age. It will be an utter pain to get the pins out if they snap!
...and there was me thinking it would be a breeze! Thanks for the heads-up - I'll try to be slightly less ham-fisted than I usually am then...!

Thread revival but I'd just like to reiterate this. What's left of the pin is now somewhere inside the bonnet. Nowhere near as easy to remove as some DIY guides make it out to be, I needed a knife in the end to dig into the badge to lift it. Absolutely fk all room to pry in behind.
