One of my parking sensors gave up a few weeks ago, so I'd ordered a replacement bosch unit from a motor factors (central-auto) which had them advertised at £30. They called me up to say this part was now discontinued, but they could get me a unit from the dealer for £130, I declined the offer.

After a bit of searching I found a couple of references stating that Land Rover Discovery 3 parking sensors fit the E46, this post made reference to a pre facelift model, but I thought this was worth confirming as the dealer supplied part from Land Rover was £42.

This morning I fitted the Land Rover parking sensor to my 2004 330i Sport facelift and can confirm it works just fine.

I have taken some photos for comparison, the Land Rover part number is YDB500301PMA

BMW sensor has the cream coloured connector

Just to clarify the detail from the OP, I have also just bought 4 x of these LR parking sensors for my E46. *However*, the connectors do not fit the sensors as there is a different pattern (poke yoke), most likely to prevent people doing as the OP and I. Still, nothing a quick slice with a knife couldn't fix!

I paid £137 for all 4 sensors (I get a discount) and am, so far, rather happy with the result!

Ah that is interesting, do you have a coupe or an estate?

On my facelift Saloon I did not need to modify the connector at all, it was a perfect fit.

Just been told that the ones I ordered are no longer in stock. Would you mind sharing where you sourced yours from ?

Mine is an 04/2004 facelift Saloon.

Seems strange, as I said, I didn't need to modify the sensor at all.

It wasn't the sensor I had to modify - it was the connector (part of the car's harness). The modification took less than 2 minutes for all 4 connectors, so was no big deal.

ETA - Still a cracking deal though! I reckon I saved at least £230!
