Pesty said: I am not suggesting BMW are not complying. But the fact remains it does seem with the correct equipment BMWs' can be taken quite easily.
It seems to me this is exactly the type of thing TG would cover in the news section at least. I do hope you are correct. That would shoot the bolt on the BMW disregard for the owners of the affected cars. I really hope this happens. Unless it does I think we have stalemate in publicity causing a change in the BMW stance..

My remarks were meant in a sarcastic way. The question of how any of this could be BMW's failure was meant to illustrate the complete absence of any responsibility or acceptance of failure by BMW. The BMW line is that the cars comply with all the legal requirements and security standards. Which is all that they are required to do in the opinion of BMW. So in BMW's opinion BMW cannot be responsible. They are that puerile. There is no acceptance that the car should actually function so long as it complies with the legislation. Hence my post. Clearly this IS actually BMW's responsibility and cannot be anyone elses. The security systems on these cars are obviously fundamentally flawed and ineffective. I hope TG run such an article. BMW could not then continue hiding behind the " The car complies with ....... legislation." defence when faced with specific make failures. But until TG does run the story or a major media player specifically identifies these cars as very specifically weak in security protection and very bad risks for being stolen, then BMW will hide behind the "Where have BMW failed? The cars comply with all the security requirements" defence. As they are doing currently.

I doubt BMW will be very happy you've placed their name on the sticker and you'll almost certainly require their permission to do so. This is only my personal view having used brand names on various marketing and information items we've produced over the years.

If these designs were being sold and BMW were selling similar stickers, these stickers would infringe upon their trademark. As neither of those conditions applies, there can be no infringement. As it is, no permission is needed, just as permission is not needed to write the letters BMW on a piece of paper or type them in this forum.

The implication is BMW have a problem by virtue of the fact it's on there...... that's the issue. If you didn't want to advertise you have a problem would you let stickers be printed with your name on them - probably not. Anyway it's not my problem, just my previous experience and I suggest a quick call to BMW Bracknell will confirm either way.

Anyway it's not my problem, just my previous experience and I suggest a quick call to BMW Bracknell will confirm either way. As there is no logo/trademark/corporate style being used all I see are three letters that could refer to anything.

Anyway it's not my problem, just my previous experience and I suggest a quick call to BMW Bracknell will confirm either way. just to clarify, im not selling anything. these are designed for personal use (for a problem BMW says does not exist) it would be like saying you couldnt advertise in the classified print ads using BMW. there is no breach of any copyright law or infringement of any IP (i work for one of worlds largest advertising agencies so deal with this daily). it clearly labels for any returning gang member that this has been done post the last attempted theft no logo, no branding, its name and date and id rather have a sticker saying no OBD port access than them breaking in (again) and trash the car trying to figure it out!
