Glad i could help fellow owners out
You are single handedly showing more care about nervous BMW owners concerns than BMW itself - nicely done Glad i could help fellow owners out

Thank you for those nice comments, just glad i could do my bit, i had loads made and once mine were fitted there was no point just staring at the other 100 of them so thought i'd share them out, due to the response i even went and got more printed lol!
Do you happen to have any left?If not, can I ask where you got them made?

My car is going in for an oil service tomorrow at the local dealer. Today I "unrelocated" the OBD port back to its original spot & put the disclock back on for tonight. Will BMW add the security update as part of the service or do I have to mention seeing Watchdog? Also from going back a few pages does the update stop a new blank key being coded or just stop the window opening?
In an ideal world they would inform owners about the update but we know BMW aren't that clever either that or they've been advised not to by their legal team because by doing so maybe seen as a sign of admittance to a fault serious enough to warrant a recall.
Having said that you would like to think they'd do it while yours is in their workshops but even then i wouldn't trust them so i'd give them a friendly nudge when you drop it off.
As for the update i beleive it it affects the window drop AND makes it a requirement to have the original key inserted, thats certainly how i read it a few pages ago in this thread

They acknowledged its an issue but speaking to different people at BMW I get confused mixed messages.
So not treated as a recall but if you ring BMW they will fix the cars security free of charge.
I cant let this go, so upset with the whole situation......
Understand but want i meant was that BMW will do the update but only if you chase or ask them, they won't chase you as in a recall, doing so may be an admittance of a serious issue rather than getting the update done at your own leisure, leaving you to decide when you get it done might make it seem as the issue isn't as bigger problem the Police or watchdog make out, who knows, its the only reason i can think of why BMW aren't chasing owners like they would with a safety recall! So not treated as a recall but if you ring BMW they will fix the cars security free of charge.
