Not heard of this one....tell me more? Will it work with the Coupe?
yep, there's a link..http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&a...
it's not that tricky and maybe not one to do if you cover lots of miles on the motorway.
the other issue is you don't know if it's already been done to your car until you've tried yourself..

It's okay - most miles are done locally and I like noise Do you run with both pieces of foam out?

Aha - I should have looked this up myself seeing as I'm already on the Z4 forum! Assume it will work with the 3.0si engine so I might give that a go one evening this week if the weather behaves.

actually, i don't know - however i've got hold of an aFe air intake that i'm hoping to fit this weekend, my commute has shrunk to 4 miles on a wet day and a bike ride on a dry day so i thought i'd give it a go.It's okay - most miles are done locally and I like noise Do you run with both pieces of foam out?
unfortunately i got the air intake 2nd hand from the z4 forum and the geezer left half a drill bit in one of the maf sensor mounts - it's currently at an engineers' being sorted.
i think it's quite easy - so if you like it raucous why not take both out and go from there?

I will give it a go (using those pictures) and let you know - but I think it should work - so both bits of foam out and we'll go from there!! unfortunately i got the air intake 2nd hand from the z4 forum and the geezer left half a drill bit in one of the maf sensor mounts - it's currently at an engineers' being sorted.

I've only got 7 miles to work, so should be all good - although might not help me behave so much...
I had looked an air intakes etc (I only have an a different panel filter in at the moment) - I'd be interested as to how you get on with that mod so let me know
Have you considered Eibach springs? I put them on mine a couple of weeks ago and it is now a whole different proposition when you lean on it a bit in the twisty stuff! Although - it is noticably lower....(which does make it look very menacing!)

yep, snapped spring so had the eibachs fitted, when i purchased i did actually test drive a car with rft and standard suspension and imo the eibachs are how it should've come. i don't understand why bmw hampered the z4 with rft when they have been supplying m cars with foam and compressors for years!I've only got 7 miles to work, so should be all good - although might not help me behave so much...

i've been really impressed with the z4 coupe, returning 29.4mpg (hardly changes for some reason and the trip computer isn't as optimistic as the m3 i did have). there are times (particularly now my commute has shortened) when i wish i'd shelled out a £fewk more and got a Z4m but atm i'm happy with what i've got.
always makes me laugh tho, people talk about the 3.0 and the 3.2m being in different leagues, and, in a way, they are, but the cost of running is different too. man-maths will always suggest you can run the m for 16p a week more the the si, but you can't. you could practically buy a motorbike for the difference...guess insurance would scupper that though!!
Why are 2003, higher mileage examples costing the earth?
However, this persistently keeps dropping in price;

the comment regarding no 'big' dents/scuffs caught my eye.However, this persistently keeps dropping in price;

the other thing is the mileage, won't be long before it ticks over that £100k mark...arbitrary, but seems to devalue nevertheless.

Prices sank a bit, but now seem to be slowly rising. Whether that's because of summer or what I do not know. Dealers still seem to pricing anywhere from 6-8 depending on mileage and spec!
They're slowly rising because I'm attracting all the attention to the Zed's I'm in no rush to buy, so will wait out until a nice example for the right price crops up.Ideally:
Black Sapphire
Wind deflector
Sports Seats
Sat/Nav
3.0 Auto/Manual
60K miles FBMWSH
18" 108's/Conicals
Mem seats/parking assist
No so much to ask for?

I can't help you there! Dealer fobbed me big time with the wind deflector. I am certain it had one when I viewed it. Completely forgot when I picked it up and it wasn't there. No problem I thought, a piece of plastic shielding can't be that much.Ideally:
Black Sapphire
Wind deflector
Sports Seats
Sat/Nav

Bloody £80 or something! So I'm still yet to buy one but to be honest the wind never bothered me enough.
In not overly bothered if it doesn't sell quickly, as I am in no rush. Might have to try my luck with AutoTrader.

Nice spec list you have there Ideally:

I would usually feel like giving you grief for wanting the Sat Nav because it will be empty and void of all current roads... However, it is my understanding that if you have the Nav system with iDrive etc that you will then have the amps etc with the upgraded stereo, which is needed as even the Coupe is a bit loud inside.
They look great in black - my Coupe is Ruby Black Metallic...very rare but very sexy
I'd be willing to give up BMWSH for something with a good track record and lots of invoices for a good local BMW specialist...it's what my Coupe has now

You don't get idrive on this model Z4, its the old system from the e39 and e46.I would usually feel like giving you grief for wanting the Sat Nav because it will be empty and void of all current roads... Yup - I agree about the Eibachs - also got rid of RFTs and put Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on...much better Only problem with the Eibachs is that it is noticably lower in my Coupe and I tend to ground the underside a little more often than I'd like to i've been really impressed with the z4 coupe, returning 29.4mpg (hardly changes for some reason and the trip computer isn't as optimistic as the m3 i did have). there are times (particularly now my commute has shortened) when i wish i'd shelled out a £fewk more and got a Z4m but atm i'm happy with what i've got.

I'm returning just under 28mpg on mine - with a high of 35.9 and low of 21ish...the latter was a LOT of fun though.
I wanted a Z4MC really - mainly because they have hydraulic power steering - which is just better. However, I am happy with what I got as it makes more sense for a daily driver. I think the running costs on it are VERY reasonable for a 3.0 sports car though! Like you say, to get the "M" you suddenly have double the service costs and for me at 24 the insurance went up quite a bit!!!

All the best with the sale James, albeit the wind breaker wouldn't be a deal breaker, but would be nice to have one. In the current climate, the spec I ask for and the price I am willing to pay doesn't quite add up.Bloody £80 or something! May I ask whom you insure with? I'm sure to get the shock of my life after being used to 50mpg I'm returning just under 28mpg on mine - with a high of 35.9 and low of 21ish...the latter was a LOT of fun though.
