May I ask whom you insure with? I'm sure to get the shock of my life after being used to 50mpg biggrin
You may of course ask! I insure with Admiral (via Confused rather than going direct).

I know they will try and arse me around at renewal but a dummy quote with them again and they soon price match - read about it many places on PH as a "buyer beware" point is my advice smile

What are you coming from to go into the Z?

I drive an Audi A3 2.0TDI Sport, it as been a fantastic car and still is. However, I now fancy myself a Coupe.

I just had a quote from Admiral for my renewal on the A3 for £761. Cheapest I found to insure the Z was £1500. frown

I can't help you there! Dealer fobbed me big time with the wind deflector. I am certain it had one when I viewed it. Completely forgot when I picked it up and it wasn't there. No problem I thought, a piece of plastic shielding can't be that much.

Bloody £80 or something! So I'm still yet to buy one but to be honest the wind never bothered me enough.

In not overly bothered if it doesn't sell quickly, as I am in no rush. Might have to try my luck with AutoTrader.
might be worth checking inside your boot lid, just incase.

There is (or should be) a holder for the wind deflector, maybe they took it off for some reason?

The spec is the same as i had less the satnav and parking sensors, but i wouldnt bother with satnav personally. See if you can get on with the Carver upgrade as its worth it, mine was great. still miss it now.

Just checked, nothing there. Do you mean on the lid itself? I noticed inside the boot underneath there was a red leaver thing that resembled the end of a dipstick. I didn't pull it. There's also two knobs I can turn that raise something up in the boot.

Any ideas? This is like the first time I've rooted around haha!

Edit: oh manual hood release. Wondered where that was. Still not sure what the shelf that raises up and down is for?

Re Eibachs, if the kept the same ride height I'd have switched to them when my spring broke but as it is they are too low for an everyday car IMO. Standard ride height is just right. Will be switching to non-runflat Eagle F1 A2s when it needs new boots.

That sat-nav is a nice to have but it is a bit crap by modern standards. There are disks available that add postcode search though. The main reason I wanted it was because I plan on fitting an Intravee iPod adapter and you get very nice integration with the nav system. I lucked out with the spec on mine, it's got auto xenons, parking sensors (which you really don't need in the coupe), memory + heated seats, bluetooth phone prep and sat nav. The only thing missing is the upgraded DSP sound system.

The insurer tried to get me on multicar, but my parents would have to take up the policy when theirs was due for renewal? Not entirely sure I understood.

Actually laughing here hehe

ETA: Point ZOLLAR in this thread direction, wanting to understand multi-car properly so I benefit from it!

to be fair i don't encounter many situations where the ride height on eibachs is an issue, true a couple of speed bumps have left a bit of a scar under the front bumper, but it's not that bad.

Did BMW offer factory Auxillary? Mine has it and it definitely doesn't look retrofit.

Passenger side, comes from the centre console. But it's very snug and discreet. And the radio has aux input as one of the modes so always presumed it was standard. But I'm led to believe its not.

I think it's a simple enough mod as the HU has an aux input on the back so you only need to install the cable. I might do it at some point as I sometimes like playing offline Spotify playlists in the car.

yeah the underside of the top of the actualy boot lid, there thought be 2 black plastic runners, this is where the wind guard can be stored to prevent the netting getting damaged. if you dont have the runners it might suggest it never had the guard?

the bits that raise the shelf, as far as i could work out, were just to give a little extra boot space at the expense of not being able to lower the roof.

I'm not entirely unconvinced a foam hasn't already been taken out of mine but I'll have a look when I get a chance. I do like a nice bit of induction noise.

Blimey! You lot pay loads for insurance!! I pay £740 at 24, with 3 yrs ncb and a low excess...

Where do you all live?!

Renewal prices might not be helped by the report released a few weeks ago that the Z4 is the second most vandalised car in UK....

Eibachs do mean a few scuffs but my god they make it worth it in the twisty stuff! Grow a pair and crawl over speed bumps at 4mph with a grimace on your face smile
